About / Biography

Our standard lineup is a trio with lead vocals/electric guitar, bass/backing vocals, and drums/backing vocals. We can also add a fourth member, such as a lead guitarist or saxophonist, for a bigger sound.

A bit about us: We're The Renegades, a fresh 3-piece band with powerful vocals, a wide range, and seriously talented musicians! We're all about bringing the party with rock and pop anthems, plus a healthy dose of soul, reggae, and punk favorites.

Our core lineup is a trio featuring lead vocals with electric guitar, bass with backing vocals, and drums with backing vocals. But if you're looking for an even bigger sound, we can add a fourth member like a lead guitarist or saxophonist. No matter what, we're committed to exceeding your expectations – our clients consistently rave about our musicianship and recommend us time and time again.

We've been playing together for years, so we're incredibly tight-knit and in sync. This allows us to really connect with our audience and create an unforgettable experience. We arrive fully prepared, follow schedules, and work closely with event coordinators to ensure everything runs without a hitch. We're also happy to accommodate requests and adjust the schedule as needed throughout the event.

We're led by Sam, a charismatic frontman with a distinct and versatile voice perfectly suited for pop, rock, soul, reggae, and punk. He's backed by the incredible talents of Ewan on bass and Rob on drums, both providing backing vocals. And if you opt for the 4-piece, Paolo on lead guitar adds another layer of energy and musicianship.

Between us, we've opened for Happy Mondays, toured North America and Brazil, recorded with Emeli Sande, and even performed on BBC TV! We've honed our skills at iconic venues like the Islington O2, the Jazz Café, and the 100 Club, and brought the house down at festivals like New Quay Beach Break and Notting Hill Carnival.

We have an extensive repertoire of over 100 songs spanning different genres and decades, and we're always happy to tailor the setlist to your preferences. Plus, Ewan doubles as our resident DJ, so he can keep the dance floor buzzing between and after our live sets if you'd like.

We're committed to providing excellent musicianship, creating a fun atmosphere, and ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for everyone. We offer reduced rates Sunday to Friday (excluding December) and are always happy to answer any questions you may have.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

It's impossible to pick just one "best gig" as we've had so many incredible experiences! We thrive on the energy of a fantastic crowd, and we've been fortunate to have many gigs where the audience was really engaged and up for a party. Some of our favorite venues include the Islington O2, the Jazz Café, and the 100 Club in London, all of which have great acoustics and a vibrant atmosphere. We also love playing festivals like New Quay Beach Break and Notting Hill Carnival, where the energy is electric.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

As a band, we draw inspiration from a wide range of artists, from classic rock icons like the Rolling Stones and The Beatles to modern pop stars like Bruno Mars and Ed Sheeran. Pinpointing one "favorite artist" is tough, but we all agree that Stevie Wonder is a musical genius. Choosing the "greatest song of all time" is an impossible task, but "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen always gets us going!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

We've been playing together for a long time, honing our skills and building our repertoire. Ewan, Rob, and Paolo all trained at the British Institute for Modern Music and Plymouth University, which gave them a solid foundation in musicianship. We started gigging by playing at local pubs and clubs, gradually building a following and expanding our reach. Over the years, we've had some amazing opportunities, like opening for Happy Mondays, touring North America and Brazil, and even performing on BBC TV!

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

We love playing all kinds of events, but weddings are definitely a favorite. There's something special about being part of someone's big day and contributing to the joyous atmosphere. We also enjoy corporate events and festivals, where we can bring our high-energy performance to a larger audience.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We'll be on site for a full 7 hours, from 5pm to midnight, ensuring your event has a fantastic soundtrack from start to finish. Ideally, we require 90 minutes for setup and soundcheck, allowing us to create the perfect atmosphere for your guests.

However, we pride ourselves on being flexible and accommodating. If you have any time constraints, we can be ready to go within an hour if a sound engineer is booked as an add on.

Our performance includes two energetic 60-minute live sets usually from around 8pm, guaranteed to get everyone on the dance floor. In between sets, we'll keep the party vibe going with carefully curated background music, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes as long as the weather is suitable or if there is a back up option or cover for the band and the equipment.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

The clients can make suggestions for songs from our repertoire, and we always offer a one 'off the menu' request that the band can learn, either as a first dance or to go in the band set.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Our clients often describe our performances as "unbelievable," "fabulous," and "brilliant." They praise our musicianship, our ability to get the crowd going, and our friendly and professional attitude. We're always thrilled to hear such positive feedback, and it motivates us to keep delivering top-notch performances.
