In late 1955, his contract was bought out by RCA Victor, and by 1956 he was an international sensation. He went on to star in 33 successful films, perform at record breaking concerts and globally sell over 1 billion records, more than any other artist. To this day his legacy remains as "The King of Rock N' Roll" or simply "The King".

In the UK, The effect of Elvis Presley and the other rock n' roll acts would give rise to many British counterparts (who would also enjoy international success) like Cliff Richard, Hank Marvin/The Shadows and Billy Fury.
