Add to favouritesIs it your dream to have a bespoke song written and performed specifically for your wedding or special event? Perhaps you need help writing some vows, or are simply looking for a songwriter to provide the perfect music whilst a stunning bride walks down the aisle. By hiring a songwriter/composer, an event can be uplifted by original lyrics and music. Not only will your guests be awe inspired by this unique musical twist, you will have a piece of music to treasure forever to remind you of your special day.
How does it work?
Once the client has found a suitable composer/songwriter, they will attend a meeting where the main components of the song writing process will take place. Once the parts of the song have been agreed and the lyrics chosen more instrumentation may be added such as strings, bass, guitar and drums - at the client’s preference. The client is usually able to make suggestions and alter the music/lyrics any way they see fit. Many songwriters also provide a CD, customised artwork, framed lyrics, although this can be at an extra cost.
Ideal for: Weddings
Songwriters and composers are often hired to provide bespoke music and lyrics. Suitable for various occasions throughout a wedding, the couple’s own song can be performed during the first dance or the CD can be played whilst the bride walks down the aisle or guests enjoy champagne or dinner.
As the CD is packaged, it can be given as gifts to the Father of the bride, best man, close friend or family member. A gift from the heart, a CD allows family members to revisit the special day. A bespoke song is so much more than a one off performance or playback on a wedding day. It can be played countless times, instantly transporting the listener back to the wedding day.
These award winning songwriters and composers do not just limit their services to luxurious events such as weddings. Composers can be hired to create soundtracks for films, theatre productions, computer games and other projects where original music is needed. They are also available to be hired by singers looking to perform new songs with a writing partner or a business in need of a catchy new jingle. Songwriters and composers write, record, mix and master a bespoke song just for the client.
Original arrangements
An alternative to having a song written for your special event would be to have an existing song arranged for you. An arrangement is a new version of a song that is worked on by a professional arranger. One idea for an arrangement would be to take a pop song and arrange it in a jazz style or to take an song from a Hollywood movie and arrange it in Bollywood style.
History of songwriters and composers of popular music
The history of popular song-writing began with song-writers being hired by publishing companies to create material for others to perform. Whilst commercial songwriters continued to write hit songs for artists, other genres, particularly blues and folk saw the line between songwriters and artists fade. Artists such as Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan and the Beatles began writing their own material creating fresh, new and exciting songs inspiring others to create their own music. As the 20th century progressed, more musicians began to write and perform their own material earning them the label ‘singer-songwriter’. This label has been taken on by contemporary artists such as Jeff Buckley, Elliot Smith and more recently Lady Gaga. Whilst some pop artists do still continue to have songs written for them, it is more common for an artist to write their own material.
Hire a Conductor or MD
