Add to favouritesTake your big day to a new level by hiring a professional violinist to perform for you and your guests. Ideal for weddings, a violin player can enhance the magical experience by performing wedding hymns during your wedding ceremony, or whilst the bride walks down the aisle. Many couples also choose to have a violinist perform whilst guests eat or enjoy canapé’s and sometimes also during the celebratory wedding breakfast.
"Thank you for your stunning performance yesterday at our wedding. You were spectacular and we have been inundated with glowing reviews about you from our 100+ guests and waiting staff. You helped make our special day magical (even with the thunder storms). Thank you very much, we can will recommend you to everyone." - Beth's review of Acoustic and Electric Violinist
Perfect for those who enjoy traditional classical music, a violinist can either play solo, in a duo or alongside other musicians like a trumpeters. By booking a violinist for your event you will be enhancing the atmosphere creating a graceful and stylish ambiance that adds a touch of class to your party.
To avoid nasty surprises, try and book your violinist via a reputable entertainment agency or directory (ahem, the good news is you’re on one).
By doing this you can rest assured that the violinist has up to date credentials and is equipped with all that they need to perform at your event. For example, every musician signed to the Last Minute Musicians agency has up to date public liability insurance and regularly PAT tests their electrical equipment to ensure it’s safe to be used in public.
When searching through violinists, look out for the testimonials and reviews from recent clients to see how they felt about the performances. Also listen to recordings (ideally live) so that you can get a better idea of how they would sound playing at your event.
When booking any live musician, you should always be aware of various technical requirements that will need to be provided so that the musician is able to perform. Basic needs such as a parking space, a hot meal, refreshments and a space to store valuable belongings should always be provided.
Solo violinists will usually charge a minimum of £150, but will supplement this based on the type of event, the time of the year and the length of sets. If you're looking to cut down on travel costs then use the "advanced search" feature to find a violinist near you.
Versatile Violinists:
Lots of people assume that violin players only have a classical repertoire, and that couldn't be further from the truth! While it is true that a classical violinist can add a wonderful sense of occasion, electric violinists often have a more pop or chart hit repertoire, sometimes utilising backing tracks to perform music from the likes of Jess Glynne or Calvin Harris.
Fiddle players will also cover a completely different set of material, usually performing jigs and reels, and other traditional folk music.
They may also perform the more folk influenced hits of more recent bands like Mumford & Sons.
Whatever their style, if you have any specific pieces you would like your violinist to perform, then most will be happy to take requests. It's important that you speak to them as far in advance as you can, in order to facilitate transcription and rehearsal. If you have any sheet music for the piece you would like them to play, that may also be helpful.
