Frequently asked questions

Most bass players are self-contained and provide their own equipment which is suitable for typical situations. Even though the act generally plays acoustically, if your event is to be held in a large venue, or you have more than 300 guests, we recommend that additional sound equipment should be used. Always ask your musicians about their sound system requirements.

Each event is different but the typical performance time for bass players is 2 x 45 minutes sets within a 2 hours period. Some acts are happy to play longer sets or additional sets. Often, breaks can be negotiated but you should be aware that the price may increase if the musicians need to be onsite for a longer period of time.

You should always check whether or not your act is prepared to play outdoors. Weather conditions such as wind, rain, or extreme temperatures can affect the performance and the instruments. If you are planning an outdoor event you should be prepared to offer a flat surface for performers as well as a cover in case of unexpected rain.

Booking bass players as early as possible increases the chance of securing their availability on your event date, particularly during busy times of the year. However, many acts also accept last minute bookings, and we have successfully arranged performances for clients with just a few hours' notice.

The cost of hiring musicians can vary significantly depending on the type of act. The average price is currently £259. Budget-level acts may be available for as low as £175, while top-tier acts can command prices as high as £400.

About these Bass Players

Whether it's on a temporary or permanent basis, the Last Minute Musicians directory has 9 bass players for you to choose from. A great bass player will add groove to your band, and work with the drummer to form a solid rhythm section.

"Great bass players are hard to find and they make a huge difference to a band. We asked Jim to dep for us at short notice and he was amazing..... For any genre of song to sound good, the bass guitarist needs to be a “rock-solid groove machine” and he certainly lived up to that! Everyone in the band was super impressed and what’s more, he was sooooo nice to work with. No hesitation in recommending Jim in a heartbeat, fab guy all-round!"
