About / Biography

Groove Central, a very friendly and flexible bunch, and we take great pride in providing excellent musicianship and creating a really fun atmosphere wherever we go. We've honed our skills through professional music studies at institutions like Canterbury University and the Institute of Contemporary Music in London, and this dedication to our craft has made us some of the most in-demand talent in the UK music industry.

We have more than one person for each supporting instrumental role, which means should a band member be called away on tour or called in to record with major artists, there will always be another member from the collective ready to step in and deliver a seamless performance for you and your guests. So you can book with total peace of mind and know that we will deliver a top-notch performance every time.

We have an extensive repertoire of over 340 songs spanning different genres and decades for you to pick from – everything from classic Motown and soul to today's hottest pop hits! We can also play complimentary playlist music before, in between and after live sets if you would like. We also operate reduced rates from Sunday to Friday (excluding December).

If you've any questions about Groove Central and what we offer please don't hesitate, we'll be more than happy to help.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

Playing at festivals like Splendour Festival and iconic venues like Ronnie Scott's and Rock City in Nottingham have been definite highlights. The energy from the crowd and the atmosphere at those venues is always electric.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

We draw inspiration from a wide range of artists, from classic Motown acts like Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin to pop icons like Michael Jackson and Beyoncé. Picking a single favorite artist is like choosing a favorite child! However, "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen holds a special place in our hearts as one of the greatest songs ever written. Its complexity, emotion, and sheer musicality are unmatched.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

Our journey began with a shared passion for music and a desire to perform. We honed our skills through professional music studies at institutions like Canterbury University and the Institute of Contemporary Music in London. Our first gigs were in local pubs and clubs, gradually building our reputation and expanding to weddings, parties, and eventually, international cruise lines.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

Weddings are always a joy to play! There's something truly special about contributing to such a momentous occasion. The atmosphere is filled with love and celebration, and it's incredibly rewarding to see everyone come together on the dance floor.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We'll be on site for a full 7 hours, from 5pm to midnight, ensuring your event has a fantastic soundtrack from start to finish. Ideally, we require 90 minutes for setup and soundcheck, allowing us to create the perfect atmosphere for your guests.

However, we pride ourselves on being flexible and accommodating. If you have any time constraints, we can be ready to go within an hour if a sound engineer is booked as an add on.

Our performance includes two energetic 60-minute live sets usually from around 8pm, guaranteed to get everyone on the dance floor. In between sets, we'll keep the party vibe going with carefully curated background music, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for everyone.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes as long as the weather is suitable or if there is a back up option or cover for the band and the equipment.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

The clients can make suggestions for songs from our repertoire, and we always offer a one 'off the menu' request that the band can learn, either as a first dance or to go in the band set.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Our clients often rave about our energetic performances, extensive repertoire, and ability to get everyone dancing. They appreciate our professionalism, communication, and how we personalise each setlist to match their preferences. We're often told that we create an unforgettable party atmosphere and that our passion for music shines through in every performance.
