"I hired the Blue Jewel Ceilidh Band for a party I was having (for its own sake!). I made initial contact with Kip online since I live in China and was arranging the party for when I would be at home in the summer. Kip was easy to deal with and the booking was arranged with just a few short emails. On the night, Kip and the rest of the band turned up with the same sense of ease and informality. They provided us with a fantastic night of entertainment with Kip giving clear instructions for the dances as caller. I would thoroughly recommend the Blue Jewel Ceilidh Band for their quality musicianship, their excellent rates and for their warm and friendly service."

"Mike and his band played for Martin’s 60th birthday barn dance. They made it a very special night full of lovely memories. Alan was a fab caller. Navigated us through the dances with humour and laughter. Alan was extremely helpful and empathetic towards one of our guests who is blind and called dances that she could join in without making it obvious to lots of guests. Many didn’t even realise she was not sighted. We had many comments from our guests who complimented the band on the accordion player (sorry I forgot your name) Mike the fiddle player and Alan our caller. A great trio and we really recommend them! Thank you guys! "

"Black Velvet Band Ceilidh Trio – Viv’s 50th Birthday Ceilidh – January 2025 We had an amazing evening. Dan, Ned and Heather were brilliant. Firstly Dan was incredibly helpful and reassuring when I spoke to him a few weeks in advance. He was very relaxed but also incredibly reassuring that it would be fun and go well! He was very warm and I felt ‘everything would be alright’! They came very promptly and set up very unobtrusively. The music was perfect and Ned was a fantastic caller. He drew people in so well and had a very relaxed manner, he made it very enjoyable. Dan on the guitar and Heather on the fiddle were excellent! We had a fantastic evening of dancing with them. So many of our guests commented on how they made it such fun. They made it a great success. I highly recommend them."

So many of our guests have remarked how much they loved it- from the 20 year olds to the 70 year olds, all loved it and joined in, which is exactly what we wanted. Even the hip-hop fans who normally grumble at anything else were up having a whale of a time. We appreciated you expertise and advice and would recommend you to others. "What an amazing band! I’ve heard bands which are great at the Scottish ceilidh stuff but not very good at any other styles. I’ve heard bands which are great at pop/rock/country/indie covers but couldn’t play a ceilidh dance to save their lives. You guys are amazing! You can play all the Scottish ceilidh stuff AND make it rocky AND play all these other styles from pop to rock to country to whatever! Amazing! "

"Delightful Sottish jigs and reels from Sue and Mike combined excellent calling from Henry had everyone on the dance floor, reeling into the small hours. We shall be booking the band again next year. "

"The Black Velvet Band provided us with a fantastic ceilidh for our wedding reception. They really got everyone up and moving, so much better than a boring DJ set. They were even accommodating to our more inebriated guests and explained the dance moves clearly. We had a wonderful time and would consider them again for future parties."
