Irish Band The Extonions are a three-piece (can add bodhran for 4-piece) Celtic folk band with a superb repertoire of traditional and not-so-traditional tunes. The band take traditional Irish and Scottish music and add jazz reggae and rock twists that create new vibrant and exciting versions that get an audience on their feet and singing along.
On the top line is premier fiddle player Mackenzie (AKA Mac) who plunges from Irish set dances into the jazz style of Stephan Grappelli with surprising ease. At the centre of the band is 12-string guitarist, John. His playing is a startling combination of cross rhythms/ jazz chords and counter melodies that produce completely original arrangements of the songs. With a background on the London music scene, he brings many diverse influences to the band.
On Banjo is Ioworth, years of musical experience both teaching at Exeter Music College and playing in other bands.
As all three members of the band sing, creating rich vocal patterns and harmonies and the band is as at home raising the roof at weddings, parties, festivals or any other type of gathering where you want something completely different.
When a 4 piece band is required Spephan is ready with his Irish Bodhran.
