"Black Velvet Band Hoedown Trio / 7oaks TriClub Hoedown Barn Dance / November 2024 The Black Velvet Hoedown Trio were superb on Saturday 16th November for our annual 7Oaks TriClub dinner dance. We had 50 members turn up at the Chipstead Sailing Club Clubhouse, and I can tell you that as soon as Mike and his band started playing the first set, everyone got up to dance! There were high levels of energy in the room and the Hoedown Trio rose to the occasion spectacularly, matching our enthusiasm and giving us little anecdotes on the history of the dance with instructions as we cooled down and grabbed a different partner. The band were duly fed and watered with a delicious Greek buffet, and by special request they played a Greek dance to thank the chefs. I think Black Velvet were stunned with the energy levels and full dance floor - and there was no slacking from music or dancing. By the end of the second set we were all perspiring in a good way!!!! There have been calls from many members to make this an annual event, so rest assured we will re-book the chaps for a rematch! A fantastic evening had by all. Many thanks to Mike and the band. "

"Last evening attendees to the to the Goods Shed in Tetbury were privileged to a spectacular Swing Jazz performance by this truly spectacular and accomplished group of guys. They are all very talented musicians that literally make their instruments talk. I couldn’t take my eyes off the guitarist playing the Gibson to whom nothing was beyond his skill set. My final observation was the obvious visual enjoyment the whole group derived from their music. A real pleasure to observe. Thank every one of you so much fun an enjoyable evening, hopefully soon to be repeated."

"I booked The Jive Trio to play at my husband’s 40th birthday party at our home. The trio played beautifully, they are a talented group of guys! The live acoustic music created a wonderful atmosphere on the day. The band were organised, prompt and a pleasure to deal with. I would highly recommend the Jive Trio for an event."

"You may recall a desolate band of misfits in Tim Burton’s 'Nightmare Before Chirstmas' that popped up every now and then with musical interludes of damp and haunting melodies that were, in their own way, quite captivating. Well The Skeleton Crew have a very similar allure; that is intriguing violins and erratic accordions, both utterly besmirched with wonderfully gloomy undertones and lingering vocals."

"This band are absolutely amazing! They are very talented musicians, playing a broad range of genres with a gypsy jazz flavour. Their incredible energy got so many members of my family up and dancing like I have never seen before. In addition to this, they are so organised and thoughtful about logistics. "We absolutely loved having Black Velvet Band play our wedding ceilidh at Clearwell Castle. My husband is from Scotland so we wanted a traditional Scottish ceilidh feel with some of the classics, and we were not disappointed! We had a good feeling about Black Velvet band from the moment we booked them - and sure enough, Mike and the guys were absolutely fantastic and made our evening party a huge success. The band were great and the instructions on the ceilidh dances were so helpful; even those of our party who may not have normally danced were up there loving life on the dancefloor. The fun and friendly atmosphere they created was just fab and so different from your ‘usual’ evening do. All our guests commented on how much they enjoyed the ceilidh and some said it was the best wedding they had ever been to. We would 100% book the band again and recommend them to friends.
