About / Biography

Gypsy Cabaret Collective offer a musical cabaret experience that will amuse, bemuse and amaze. Performing a theatrical mixture of Gypsy, Balkan, folk, dance and swing-influenced original songs and arrangements. Expect rich harmonies, fast-paced strumming, groovy bass lines, banging beats, virtuoso fiddle work, knees-up squeezebox merriment, a bombastic trombone, hair-raising electric solos and a big slice of circus to top it all off. The group are fully insured, trained and equipped to undertake live music, fire manipulation and circus arts performances.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

• We require a performance space(s) of adequate size and ground material for the nature of the performance(s) you require - photos/ description and measurements to be supplied prior.
• A table is required for our sound desk.
• Minimum of 5 power sockets drawing off no less that x2 13-Amp sockets. 3 on one side of the stage area and 2 on the other.


Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

We can bring our own PA system as well as a simple lighting rig upon request.


What information do you require about a venue?

We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment. We’d also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue.


Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, we’re happy to play music from Spotify before, after and between our sets. We’re happy to choose the music ourselves or let the client choose the music.

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

We have performed on the main 'Old Town' stage at Boomtown festival as well as many other massive and packed out event stages!


Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Gogol Bordello, Csolokom, Goran Bregovic and Fanfare Ciocarlia inspire our Balkan Gypsy sound. Start Wearing Purple is what set us off on our love for this style.


What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

We started gigging as the showband for a local circus company and our performances developed from there. Since we started over 10 years ago we’ve performed at hundreds of weddings, parties and events across the UK.


What's your favourite type of event to play at?

We love playing at all sorts of events but music festivals and festival-themed weddings are our favourite!

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Setup Times:
• 3 hours prior for full PA/ sound set-up, preparation and sound check + 1.5 hour pack down.
• 2 hours prior for preparation and sound-check + 30 minutes pack down.
• 1 hour prior for circus/ fire show preparation + 10 minute pack down.


Are you happy to perform outside?

We’re happy to play outside but we ask for cover, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area.


Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We can learn a specific songs before the event but we usually limit this to 1 song.


How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous customers would describe us as a high energy group that always brings an amazing atmosphere and gets the audience on their feet dancing.
