Frequently asked questions

You should always check whether or not your act is prepared to play outdoors. It’s sometimes not possible for acts that use a lot of electronic equipment to perform anywhere where it might rain.If the act is happy to perform outdoors you should plan to have electrical outlets close to the performance area and provide a flat surface as well as a cover in case of rain.

Each event is different but the typical performance time for french music bands is 2 x 45 minutes sets within a 2 hours period. Some acts are happy to play longer sets or additional sets. Often, breaks can be negotiated but you should be aware that the price may increase if the musicians need to be onsite for a longer period of time.

Booking french music bands as early as possible increases the chance of securing their availability on your event date, particularly during busy times of the year. However, many acts also accept last minute bookings, and we have successfully arranged performances for clients with just a few hours' notice.

Most french music bands are self-contained and provide their own sound equipment which is suitable for typical situations. If your event is to be held in a large venue, or you have more than 300 guests, we recommend that additional sound equipment should be used. Always ask your act about their sound system requirements. Some french music bands have lighting systems, but most usually will charge extra for this or recommend a third party supplier for you to use.

The cost of hiring musicians can vary significantly depending on the type of act. The average price is currently £584. Budget-level acts may be available for as low as £100, while top-tier acts can command prices as high as £2047.

"FANTASTIC!!!!!!! I was so worried about booking the band for our wedding reception over the internet but I was not let down. The first contact with Sarah gave me confidence and formalities were concluded with deposit paid. I then waited. Three weeks before my afternoon tea wedding I contacted Antonio from the band and confirmed our booking. He knew all about it and confirmed details etc. Filled with confidence, the band arrived on time, on our big day/ They introduced themselves to me before starting to play according to booking. They were polite, well dressed AND the music was just as we wanted. I would recommend Midnight in Paris to anyone wanting a toe tapping back-ground swing type music for their event. They really made our wedding reception something special. Thank you so much Midnight in Paris."

Hire French Music Bands

Ideal for:

French music bands will obviously suit any event with a French twist. This could be anything from themed nights at hotels or public venues, to high-end private events such as product launches or black-tie weddings. If you're hosting your own event, encourage your guests to participate in the theme and try to decorate your venue appropriately!

When booking French Music Bands:

French music bands will come in many forms - some will be gypsy jazz wedding bands, others may be acoustic duos or solo singers. Do your research and make sure that you check out all of your prospective acts promotional material. If you have any questions, you can speak to you contact in the band.

Many French music bands prefer to play acoustically, as is traditional with that style of music, however this will depend on the size of your event. Let your band know whereabouts in the venue you'd like them to perform and how many guests you have coming. That way, the band can decide if they need amplification or not.

Prices for French Music Bands:

Each French music band will have their own system for quoting. The factors involved will usually be things like set times, time of the year and travel to the event. An acoustic duo will usually charge a minimum of £300, larger bands may charge at least £600. If you're looking to cut down on travel costs, use the "advanced search" feature to hire French music bands near you.

About French Music Bands repertoire:

The repertoire of these bands can be very diverse, and so makes them perfect for all sorts of events. They have the ability to perform slower, romantic numbers and blend into the background, providing atmosphere, but can also play up tempo songs to get people up and dancing!

French music bands will traditionally play a mix of jazz styles, and may perform jazz standards or "reel book tunes" in their own style. They may also perform gypsy jazz music, in the style of the great Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, with tunes like "Minor Swing" and "Swing 42".

Your band's repertoire will depend a little on their line up - typical instrumentation could involve accordion, double bass, acoustic guitars, percussion and fiddle/violin. If you have any particular pieces of music you want to hear, make sure you speak to your band as far in advance as possible.
