Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

I just need a small space, near to a power source....plus a chair without arms.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

No, I'm a purely live act and don't rely on backing tracks, foot pedals or loop stations. I have a small acoustic guitar amplifier which works really well with my nylon string guitar.

What information do you require about a venue?

I just need to know;
1) size of venue,
2) approximate number of guests expected,
3) parking/ Unloading situation,
4) timings for each set or sets required.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

No, I'm a purely live act.

Do you play nylon string and electric guitar?

Yes, I play both. I always bring my wonderful jazz arch top guitar for the jazz songs, along with my nylon string classical guitar for classical material and contemporary tunes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

A duo gig with a bass player at a gastro pub in Teddington in June'24....lots of amazing feedback from staff, management and customers!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

My favourite artists are;
Martin Taylor, Joe Pass, Grant Green and Herb Ellis (all guitarists!).
The greatest song of all time is, 'Eleanor Rigby' by The Beatles, closely followed by 'Vincent' by Don McClean.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I've been gigging since my late teens, so a very long time ! My very first gig was within my brother's cabaret band...what a laugh we all had! 😀

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

I particularly like to play at Weddings, Anniversaries or Birthday parties.

Do you play background or foreground music?

I play both to suit the clients' requirements.
Often, I will play unintrusive music in the first set and then play livelier material in the second...it really depends on what the client wants.

Do you use a loop pedal?

No, I do not use a loop pedal or any pedals for that matter.
I sincerely believe in the pure sound of both of my guitars , via my equally amazing Acus amp.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I only need a small space , near to a power socket. I can set up and tune up within twenty minutes.
Typically, I will play two 45 minute sets with a short break in - between. These timings can be tweaked, of course, to suit the clients' requirements.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, provided it's the not raining / snowing.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Yes, absolutely. I offer clients a choice of 3/4 favourite songs which I can arrange and play for them. They can also browse my current repertoire listing and choose any favourite numbers. I'm very flexible in this regard.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Professional, original and very personable/ friendly. My
technical expertise and versatility are often commented on also.

How long do you play for?

Typically, I will play two, 45 minute sets, centred around the clients' instructions and timings.
I can, of course, just play one single set if that might prove more suitable.
