5 piece band up to 2 x 60 minute sets | £1750 |
The Groove Primitive is a group of experienced musicians playing a well curated selection of soul, funk, pop and jazz tunes with the emphasis on danceability. If there is one thing that is important to us it is the joy of playing a great groove and seeing people get up and dance!
We came together through the London jam scene where we have all played in jam session house bands for many years. This has given us an extensive multi-genre repretoire and an extremely flexible approach to learning new material, should you have any specific tunes you would like to hear that are outside our existing setlist.
We have all played in numerous covers and function bands, so we know what it takes to generate a great atmosphere with the minimum of fuss!
Although our core line-up is a 5 piece band, we can engage additional members as required, subject to agreeing an appropriate additional fee. As a duo, trio, or quartet, we can also provide background jazz music e.g. before dinner while guests arrive; again for an additional fee that would depend on the configuration of the band and the required playing time.

Unless the venue has its own PA and/or lights, we bring our own PA system and a simple lighting rig.
As much as possible please! As a minimum, we need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment. We’d also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue.
Yes, we’re happy to play music from Spotify before, after and between our sets. We’re happy to choose the music ourselves and can include any specific client requests notified to us in advance.
We normally arrive 2 hours before the performance to set up. We normally perform 2 x 45 minutes or 2 x 60 minute sets.
We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area. There should be an alternative to play indoors if the weather is bad.
We can learn specific songs before the event but we usually limit this to 5 songs. The clients are welcome to pick a set list from our repertoire or let us choose the music for them.
