Hijrah Aman (peaceful pilgrim) was formed by guitarist Eddie Abdullah, saxophonist Ray Hardy, and bassist Clive Newnham to play their own music which majors on groove, melody and idiosyncratic composition with a distinct world music flavour. Eddie and Clive originally came together to form a house band for the popular 'Groove In The Room' jam sessions at Room 43 in Lavendar Hill, London and were soon joined by Ray. After Room 43 closed they moved the jam to Bar Love in Portobello Road where they continued to build on their original material together with a complimentary and carefully curated selection of groove based jazz tunes. When the mood takes them, Hijrah Aman also have a fondness for reimagining classic pop, soul, and funk tunes. Eddie, Ray, and Clive are now joined by exciting young drummer Jordan Farrugia whose precise and inventive playing perfectly compliments the band's compositions and groove led manifesto.
Although our core line-up is a 4 piece band, we can engage additional members as required (e.g. keys or trumpet), subject to agreeing an appropriate additional fee.

As much as possible please! As a minimum, we need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment. We’d also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue.
Yes, we’re happy to play music from Spotify before, after and between our sets.
Depending on the venue we normally arrive betwenn 1 and 2 hours before the performance to set up. We normally perform 2 x 45 minutes sets.
We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area. There should be an alternative to play indoors if the weather is bad.
