Owing to this lineage and with early guidance from music tutors such as Savourna Stevenson, Ingrid couldn’t help but fall into a musical career. Winning the BBC Radio 2 Young Tradition Award at thirteen acted as a launch pad and resulted in worldwide performance opportunities including appearances at the Vancouver and Lorient Folk Festival and Dranouter, Belgium. Since these early days, Ingrid has gone on to perform with many bands and collaborations but her solo harp work has always taken precedence.
Equally at home performing in concerts as well as for background music, Ingrid’s high-profile events have included a reception hosted by Alastair Darling at No 11 Downing Street in 2010 and an invitation to perform at the G20 Summit in London in 2009. She has also performed for Sir George Martin, King Charles, Prince Edward and The British Council. Ingrid has thirty years of experience playing for weddings and corporate events; these have included venues such as Inverlochy Castle in Fort William, Skibo Castle in Sutherland and Dover House, Whitehall.
Ingrid’s other work includes Musical Directorships for live TV work, media presenting roles and principal harp tutor at the National Centre of Excellence in Traditional Music.
Although steeped in traditional Highland music, Ingrid is comfortable playing a wide and eclectic variety of music on the Scottish harp and is happy to learn a special piece if appropriate for the instrument. Some examples of her wider repertoire are:
Pachabel’s Canon in D, Bach’s Cello Suite, Ave Maria,
Moon River, Braveheart Theme, Amazing Grace
Music can be played for any element of the wedding service or as background music during a reception or dinner. The 34-stringed Scottish harp is ideal for providing atmospheric music on any occasion. It is as visually beautiful as its related Classical Harp but it is easily transported and small enough to fit into any event.

The harp can be played acoustically given the right venue - churches, small gathering outdoor etc. If PA is being used I require an XLR lead and phantom power.
A parking space is required close to the venue.
Solo no.
Duo - PA can be provided if arranged.
With the Ceilidh Band - yes for sound equipment.
We need to know the best load in entrance and access times to venues.
We're happy to play music from Spotify before our set and in the break. Clients can also plug their device in with a special playlist.
Best venue has to be the Albert Hall, London - amazing acoustics. Best gig is always the most recent ones and usually playing music with good friends.
I have been most influenced by the older tradition bearers living in my Highland community in Scotland. Favourite artist changes on a daily basis but my favourite song & artist of all time is the Irish Band Altan and Maighdinn Mara.
I started playing music at the age of 6 and have never stopped performing concerts, teaching music and loving playing with other musicians. I started giggling in my teens as a solo harpist and as a band and had recorded 3 albums by the time I was 16! Since my teens I have played for hundrdeds of events including concerts, weddings & all types of gatherings.
I love all types of events but weddings are particularly lovely. Everyone is up for celebrating and enjoying themselves. It's always very special to be part of that celebration.
I normally arrive an hour before the event start and will play background music while guests gather. I'm happy to be flexible on times to suit each event.
Yes as long as weather is accounted for - a shade for very sunny days and some kind of shelter for rain.
I can learn specific song for the event but need a good bit of notice and will limit this to 3 songs. I have tracks to listen to and my repertoire is generally Scottish/ Highland with some classics mixed in.
The harp is always received very well at events and guests enjoy the positive atmosphere it creates. People love the calming effect of the instrument and often feel transported to another world.
