The Doubletones are an acoustic duo, and have provided music for hundreds of events in London and around the UK since 2010. Using a versatile pool of musicians, the Doubletones' wide repertoire ranges from soulful jazz to rootsy blues and folk. With a flexible line-up, the duo comprises of guitarist and singer Dai with either saxophone, violin, accordion or double bass.
Bandleader Dai plays guitar and sings. Previously, he has played with soul groups Spengler and the psychedelic cumbia band Los Chinches. Presently, Dai performs with The Doubletones as well as running honky-tonk and R&B band Gumbo La La and his own original project
Rupert plays double bass, cello, and lots of other string instruments. At the moment he plays with music hall troupe The Dead Victorians, the stilt-walking Top Bananas, Franka De Mille, Balkan troubadours Kuma Lisa and Turkish chanteuse Djavan.
Max plays saxophone. At the moment he's busy with Ghanaian project Konkoma, though he still finds time to perform with the Doubletones. In the past, Max has played with Prince, Nostalgia 77 and The Quantic Soul Orchestra, as well as running his own original project.
Bob plays violin and tin whistle. Bob has recorded with luminaries such as Van Morrison, Kirsty MacColl, Nick Lowe, Billy Bragg and The Penguin Cafe Orchestra. As well as performing with The Doubletones, he now plays with Bob and The Eden House.
Alan plays accordion and piano. Alan's recorded and appeared on stage with bona fide folk royalty, including Fairport Convention's Richard Thompson and Loudon Wainwright III. At the moment he tours regularly with Bob and Rolf Harris.
