Zukira is a unique husband wife duo playing a striking combination of cello and guitar. Having played together since 2016 after meeting on the Ugandan music scene, they have developed a captivating upbeat and mellow sound with a classical flair.
Performing music from a variety of genres including Classical, Pop, Rock, R&B, Soul, Afrobeats and Jazz, Zukira the Duo are impressively versatile, performing at a wide range of occasions and events and for a variety of clients including Netflix’s Love is Blind, Bridgerton/Alicia Keys, and Zawe Ashton.
Their eclectic style draws on the influences of their distinctive mixed heritage. Abbie is half English, half Ugandan, and was raised in the UK, studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Gavie is half Ugandan, half Ukrainian and was raised and trained in Uganda. His playing is strongly influenced by African contemporary/jazz music.
Together, they’re emerging on London’s music scene as a new and exciting alternative, reimagining well-loved melodies with each performance. Zukira’s vision is to ‘combine the classical, sonorous sound of the cello with African contemporary guitar to create a relaxed and captivating musical fusion’ and they achieve this to perfection.

Yes, we are completely self contained. We bring our own PA system to all of our events.
We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment.
Yes, we’re happy to play music from Spotify before, after and between our sets. We’re happy to choose the music ourselves or let the client choose the music.

We love playing at all sorts of events but we do specialise in weddings!
Yes, we can add vocals as well, as we both sing! It would be at a small extra fee
We normally arrive 2 hours before the performance to set up. We normally perform 2 x 45 minutes or 2 x 60 minute sets. We’re happy to play a bit longer or shorter but we’ve found that these set times suit us and our audiences best.
We’re happy to play outside but we ask for a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area.
We are happy to learn three personal song choices for the day if they are not already on our list. Plus unlimited song choices from our set list. This is included in the fee!
