Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

One of the best gigs we've ever done was for the Jockey Club – the energy from the crowd was absolutely electric, the dance floor was full all night long, and the atmosphere was perfect for the type of show we love to deliver. The venue itself is incredible, with great acoustics and a vibe that just made everything feel magical. It’s one of those places where everything clicks—the sound, the audience, and the entire team behind the scenes. We’ve played a lot of amazing places, from festivals, celebrity weddings and more intimate private performances, whether a large or small event we love every performance we delivery, this gig really stands out as a highlight for us.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

As a collective, we have a vast breadth of musical tastes and preferences, and we draw influence from a wide variety of genres and decades. From pop, rock, Motown, disco, and funk, to the sounds of the '60s, '70s, '80s, '90s, and all the way through to the present day, our influences are as diverse as the music we play. We appreciate so many artists across these eras, and each of us brings different inspirations to the table. As for the greatest song of all time, that’s a tough one, but for us, it’s the songs that stand the test of time—ones that still get people moving and feeling something, no matter the decade.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

We’ve all been playing music since our school days, so our collective experience spans a few decades, with each of us bringing different influences and skills to the table. We’ve always had a deep love for a wide variety of music, and that’s shaped the way we approach gigging.

As for how we started gigging, it really grew organically over the years. We were all passionate about music from a young age and began playing in school bands, local clubs, and various small venues. The more we played, the more we realised how much we loved sharing our music with others, and that led to more opportunities to perform. Over time, we’ve built a strong live performance experience, and the variety of musical styles we enjoy has allowed us to adapt to different venues, from intimate settings to larger, high-energy gigs. We’ve learned a lot along the way, and every performance is another chance to connect with the audience and continue growing as musicians.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

We really enjoy playing at all types of events and venues—it’s the variety that keeps things exciting! Whether it’s an intimate gathering, a lively party, wedding, a corporate event, or a big festival, we love the challenge of adapting to the atmosphere and creating the right vibe for each occasion. Every event has its own energy and unique set of requirements, and we enjoy bringing our versatility to the table, whether we’re providing background music or getting the crowd dancing. Ultimately, our favorite type of event is one where people are engaged, having fun, and enjoying the music, no matter the setting.

How Long Has W!RED Been Formed

W!RED has been together for several years, bringing a wealth of experience and musical chemistry to every performance. While we’ve all been playing music since our school days, the band as a collective was officially formed in 2017. Since then, we've been fortunate to play at a wide range of events and venues, constantly evolving and refining our sound to create the best possible experience for our audiences.

Can You Perform Requests

Yes, we can certainly perform requests! To ensure we deliver the best performance, we just ask for advance notice so we can prepare and make sure everything runs smoothly. Feel free to let us know your song requests, and we’ll do our best to include them in the set!

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Depending on venue access and requirements, we typically need at least 1 to 1.5 hours from arrival to set up and soundcheck to ensure everything runs smoothly. Our performance times and set lists are highly flexible and can be tailored to suit the specific needs of your event. For most occasions, we offer the following typical options, but we’re happy to adjust based on your preferences:

2 x 45-minute sets + encores
2 x 1-hour sets + encores
3 x 40-minute sets + encores

Whatever your event or venue, we’ll work with you to create the perfect musical experience!

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, we’re happy to perform outdoors, as long as there’s adequate cover to protect us from the elements and a level, stable staging area. For safety, all electrical setups must comply with safety standards and be properly secured. While we’re open to outdoor performances year-round, we do prefer to avoid playing outside during the winter months due to the weather conditions.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We’re happy to collaborate with you to create a tailored set list that perfectly suits the vibe of your event. With our broad musical experience, we can draw on a variety of styles and genres to ensure the right dynamics are met. If there are specific songs you'd love to hear, we can learn them, as long as they fit within the singer's vocal range, for a small charge. Typically, we ask clients to choose 5 of their favorite songs, and we’ll take it from there, crafting a set that flows seamlessly and keeps the energy high throughout the event. This way, you get a mix of your personal favorites and our expertise, creating a memorable experience for everyone.
