About / Biography

With bases in London and NE Scotland, Wendy is the most versatile singer around. With extensive professional experience performing internationally, in the West End, across the UK, on ITV and BBC1, and even for royalty at Windsor Castle, she excels as an extremely versatile crossover performer, specialising in classical crossover, musical theatre & easy listening.

Wendy can adapt her extensive repertoire to suit your event, whether that be singing your favourite song while you walk down the aisle, performing a range of pop and easy listening numbers as background music at your birthday event, or giving a full concert of musical theatre numbers and operatic arias.

BIOGRAPHY:

Originally, Wendy studied opera at Leeds College of Music then went on to gain 2 years' professional experience in opera in the north east of England, in a number of roles including Susanna (The Marriage of Figaro), Frasquita (Carmen) and Anne Page (The Merry Wives of Windsor). She then went on to study in Acting at Drama Studio London, and since has performed regularly in London, including the London production of Princess Ida, Closer Than Ever and A Well-Remembered Voice, and various cabarets and special guest appearances at The Other Palace, Live at Zedel, The Pheasantry and Leicester Square Theatre in London's West End.

Wendy is a founding member and Musical Director/vocal arranger of London's leading classical-crossover girl group, Ida Girls. With Ida she has gained entry into the Christmas classical charts with their Christmas album, Believe; performed at Windsor Castle for royalty; appeared on BBC1's 'This Week Christmas Special' twice; was nominated for a Classical Brit award; performed at West End Live; featured on charity single 'The Hero' alongside other West-End and Hollywood faces; headlined Noosa Alive Festival in Australia, as well as performing all over the world on luxury cruiselines; andost recently was selected to perform on ITV's Walk the Line in December 2021.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

A space of at least 2 metres x 3 metres
Power socket where possible (for bookings where my own PA system is required)
Drinking water on hand

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, I have a very high quality, compact and portable speaker by Bose with a stand my own microphone. (Microphone stand is optional)

What information do you require about a venue?

I need to know the exact address and if there is a specific entrance I must use, plus if I am required to liaise with the venue directly I will need all contact details before the day. If I am booked it will be assumed that the venue has already been informed that I will be coming to perform.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

I can play music during the short breaks between my sets up to 20 minutes, but cannot provide background music if sets are further apart than this.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

For a solo gig using own PA/microphone, set-up would take 15-30 minutes.

If required to perform with an accompanist or band then will take longer to rehearse as well as set up and sound check.

Normally a maximum of 2 x 30- or 45-minute sets, but negotiable.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, I'm happy to perform outside. However, if I'm required to use my own PA system then in the case that rain is forecast, I will required some kind of covering to protect the equipment.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I always discuss repertoire with clients in advance so we're both fully on the same page. I can often accommodate requests and specific song choices.
