Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

One plug socket .
One parking space.
One chair.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

I provide my own amplification.

What information do you require about a venue?

Address and where in the venue you would like me to perform.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

N/A

Do you amplify the violin

I have a specialist violin microphone and AER amplifier designed for acoustic instruments which I use to boost my volume to suit the size of the venue.
The sound is very natural but amplification helps the sound to carry and fill the space.
I can play 100% acoustic if this is preferred or where there is no power available.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

I enjoy playing all kinds of venues and events!
I have played at festivals to 1000s of people; have toured Germany, Italy and Belgium ; played in orchestras and jazz groups; supported bands such as Status Quo, Kirsty Macoll and Madness, but to be honest there’s nothing I love more than playing for the special moments in peoples’ lives, whether that be walking up the aisle, a proposal or even at a graveside for a family burial and remembrance.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

I love all kinds of music from pop to classical, musicals & Disney and jazz.
In terms of violin inspiration, when I was 15 I saw Nigel Kennedy play live and met him after the concert…that was a big moment at the time and he really inspired me to become a professional violinist!
I also saw the jazz violinist Stephane Grappelli and got his autograph - another very inspiring moment!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I have been playing professionally since I was 16.
I first started out in a rockband with my brother and went on tour all around the UK and Europe!
I then started playing for all kinds of different musical groups such as string quartets, ceilidh bands, country bands, jazz groups and orchestras.
I now specialise in playing solo for weddings and I love helping couples to pick out their song choices and playing for their special day!

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

I love the moment when the doors to the ceremony room open and I start playing the music for the walk down the aisle!

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I arrive 45 minutes before I am due to start playing to set up.

When playing for a civil ceremony I will usually play:
15 minutes as the guests are coming into the ceremony room
the entrance music for the Bridal Party
3 songs during the signing of documents
Exit music

For a church ceremony guests often arrive earlier so it is worth allowing for 30 minutes of music before the Bride arrives.

During drinks receptions/ wedding breakfasts I play a selection of music from my list of 200+ songs

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes as long as it is dry and not too windy!
Ideally a plug socket is needed to allow some amplification which will help the sound travel, although it is possible for me to play acoustic without power.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Clients can choose anything from my extensive songlist and where ever possible I will also cater for special requests not already on the list.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

A selection of comments from recent clients:
“Excellent. Emma was brilliant and made the ceremony and drinks reception beautiful with her music” Freya
“Absolutely amazing. Couldn't have asked for a better violinist” Rebecca O.

“Emma was truly fantastic at our event, all the guests were telling us it made the event even more special! “ Rob

“Emma was absolutely amazing at my daughters wedding on Saturday. Everything that we hoped for and more 5 stars for everything!” Karal
