About / Biography

The Village Beats is an energetic and entertaining covers band performing songs from the 1960s to 2020s with attitude and sequins! Our song catalogue includes artists like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Queen, Fleetwood Mac, ABBA, Oasis, Bon Jovi, Dua Lipa, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Katy Perry, the Weekend, Florence and the Machine and many others.

We have played in many pubs and at festivals and at parties around Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire and always get a crowd singing and dancing.

We can perform as a trio for smaller venues and also as a 5 or 6-piece band. We are now additionally offering ‘rockaoke’ parties with guests having the opportunity to sing a song of their choice with a live band!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

We really enjoyed playing at the Heyford Fun Day and Bampton Fireworks events. Both were large events attracting over 1000 people and it was great to see people dancing and singing and enjoying our live performance.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

There are too many great songs and artists out there to limit the choice to one! We have male and female vocalists in the Village Beats, which makes us very versatile and able to cover songs from many different genres and artists.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

We've been playing together in this line-up since 2023 and have performed at many pubs, festivals, parties and private and public events. We were all playing in different bands before that and have between 5 - 20 years of experience in our different band members.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

We love playing at any sort of event. We particularly enjoy private parties and celebrations and getting a crowd singing and dancing! We recently did a rockaoke - live band karaoke for a 40th birthday party, which was a blast!

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We normally set up 2 hours before a performance. We normally perform 2 x 45 minutes or 3 x 45 minutes or 2 x 60 minutes. We are happy to fit in with whatever the customer wants.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes. We have performed outside many times. We would need a power supply near to the performance area and would prefer the performance area to be covered.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We can let customers pick a set list from our catalogue of songs or we can learn specific songs for a gig if requested by the customer.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Customers have described us as having energy that is contagious, that the connection between the band and the audience is amazing and that we have a magnetic stage presence. We have been told that we bring a venue to life.

How many performers are there in your band?

We have 7 artists in total - 2 female singers, 2 male guitarists/singers, a keyboard player, a bass player, drummer. We can appear as a larger group for big venues/festivals or a small group of 3 or 4 for smaller venues or events.

For live band karaoke events do you provide lyrics?

Yes, we do provide lyrics. For these events, it is helpful to know in advance which guests would like to sing and which songs they would like to sing. This helps to make the event more successful.
