We believe in crafting valuable, long-lasting memories. We're achieving this by challenging traditional misconceptions about Folk weddings & events - providing both ceilidhs and concerts filled with dancing, joy and celebration!

Tweed in Bourbon are an established and recommended ceilidh band. At their heart are musicians with experience at some of Dorset's best Folk Festivals, including: Purbeck Valley Folk Fedtival, Wimborne Folk Festival and Wessex Folk Festival.

Our sets are carefully thought out to ensure guests are not only entertained, but also up and dancing all night. We balance the order and style of songs performed, so that everyone is catered for, and customise each gig to suit clients' unique, bespoke, requirements.

Available to play at your: Wedding, Ceilidh (including Traditional Scottish), Barn Dance, Birthday, Festival or other celebration. We regularly cater for Burns Night, St.Patrick’s Day & other Special Events.

The band consists of:
Andrew James (Accordion, Guitar & Vocals), Richard Helson (Fiddle & Vocals) and Frederick Sedgeley (Drum Kit or Cajon Drum)
*For larger events (especially weddings and festivals) we have a network of musicians, singers and callers who can add to our sound.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

Technical requirements will be event specific.

As a general rule, we will need a suitably safe power source for our equipment, and enough space to comfortably fit the band, the PA system and speakers. A tech spec is available upon request.

Access/parking for 2-3 vehicles to unload is also needed.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

We provide a full PA as standard. We can provide some simple LED lights on request. Our disco package also includes some simple disco lighting.

What information do you require about a venue?

A full address and clear directions are a must. It’s also useful to know in advance if there are specific music curfews and/or sound limits.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

We’re happy to provide some basic background music between sets. We can also provide the leads for clients to connect their own device for a more bespoke option.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

On the day we'll arrive at the agreed setup time; we require at least 60 minutes to unload, set up and soundcheck fully.

We'll perform sets as agreed to an exceptionally high standard - working hard to engage with audiences.

In breaks, we'll play suitable music to save any silent points.

Once complete, we'll efficiently pack-down so as not to impose on the remainder of the event - leaving you with happy long lasting memories.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We’re happy to perform outside, provided there is suitable protection from the elements.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We regularly include specific dance and song requests and will work with you to tailor the experience to your requirements.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Clients often comment on the range of music, the willingness to work with them to tailor the music on the day and the energy and enthusiasm in the performance.
