Inês is an award-winning singer, instrumentalist and music educator. She was born in Porto, Portugal and has a BMus Hons degree in Jazz Voice from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. She is the co-leader and singer in the London-based Afro-Brazilian jazz band Travessia as well as being the lead singer in other groups such as contemporary jazz band Bahla and Brazilian Carnival group Rhythms of the City. She co-leads and directs female acappella group Sopa de Pedra. She has been collaborating with Bahian percussionist Jansen, Portuguese bassist Telmo and London-born guitarist Tim for more than three years now and they have played together around the UK, Brazil and Europe.
Inês has been invited to play to support the shows of Brazilian guitarist and singer João Bosco and Tropicália legend Gilberto Gil. She has toured Europe, Portugal and UK with her band Travessia . She has performed at The Union Chapel, O2 Shepherds Bush Empire, BBC Late Proms, The Elgar Room in Royal Albert Hall, Barbican Main Stage, The Jazz Café, Wembley Stadium, Pizza Express Jazz Club, London Jazz Festival, Thames Festival, Lovebox Festival, Cala Gonone Jazz Festival, FMM Sines Festival (PT) and has made appearances in BBC Radio 3.
