Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

I have done so many gigs at so many types of amazing venues so it is hard to choose one! I've sung at lots of weddings and they are always incredibly special but I have also sung at lots of care homes and that always gives me a warm fuzzy feeling too! My band supported Scouting for Girls at a festival and that was very cool. I have also represented my country singing in the Great British Jazz Collective on a tour of Lithuania!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

I sing lots of different styles so I have quite a few influences but my main one has to be Michael Jackson. He has always been my hero since I was little & his songs always go down well at my gigs! But I love all Soul and Motown. Motown songs seem to go down well whatever the audience and the age range. If I sing "My Girl" then everyone will always know the lyrics and sing along!
For Country Music I have to say Shania Twain since I'm a tribute act!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I have always loved singing since I was a little girl. I learnt various instruments growing up and I studied Music at a degree level, majoring in performance and Jazz Vocals. I started gigging whilst at university and joined a function band. Since then I've performed at hundreds of weddings, parties, pubs, clubs, etc.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

My favourite type of event is weddings! It's always such an honour to perform on a couple's most special day and help them create memories! The party in the evening is always brilliant too as all the guests want to dance and celebrate!

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I can set up pretty quickly for my solo act. I normally like to arrive about an hour before though so I can take my time to get everything just right and make sure I'm parked and loaded in with no stress.
I usually offer 2x 45 minute sets but I am happy to negotiate longer or shorter sets depending on what works for your event.

Are you happy to perform outside?

I am happy to perform outside but I always ask for cover in case of any showers to keep my gear protected. I'll also need power for my PA.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I am very happy to learn songs for clients if I don't already know them. Particularly for weddings as I want my clients to have a special performance that is personal to them. I can also send song lists to clients. If you can tell me particular songs and artists that you like it will give me a feel to create a set list around, even if I cannot perform all of the ones you have mentioned. We can always put extra ones on your playlist.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Previous customers describe my performances as fun and lively with great song choices. I've also been told I have a beautiful voice but I'll let you decide!

Could you perform solo during the day and then bring your band for the evening?

Absolutely! I can be booked solo, accompanied by a guitarist in my acoustic duo or with my full party band with horns. You can find us listed on here as Back2Skool.

Can you do a theme night?

I love a theme! I can be booked as an 80's or 90's tribute with costumes. I can also be booked as a Country act and I'm a Shania Twain tribute.
I have also done jazz themes and wartime events.
Tell me what your theme is and I'll see what I can do!
