About / Biography

Tom is a freelance pianist and Music graduate based in the South East of England. He has been playing the piano for over 15 years both as a soloist, accompanist and as a member of bands and ensembles.

With a large and diverse repertoire of classical, jazz and popular music, he is able to provide the perfect musical backdrop to any occasion. Whether it's a wedding ceremony, wedding reception, an anniversary or birthday party, a christening or a corporate event, Tom will be happy to play the right music to suit the occasion. He is highly flexible and can play continuously or break the music up into sets, whichever suits your needs best. Requests can be taken beforehand and on the day as well.

If your venue does not have a piano then that is no problem. For no extra cost a full size electric piano can be provided as well as any necessary amplification. All equipment is PAT tested and Tom also has Public Liability Insurance.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

If using my own electric piano:
Parking space near the venue/performance location
Roughly 2m x 3m of space with a flat and solid floor area
1 power socket

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

If using my own electric piano I bring an amplifier that is suitable for most events (up to 200 guests).

What information do you require about a venue?

If using my own electric piano then there needs to be parking at the venue or alternatively, somewhere outside the venue I can drop off my equipment before moving my car to a car park.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, I can plug my iphone/ipod into my amp to provide music between sets if neccesary.

How much time do you need to set up?

I can set up in around 20-25 minutes, but I will always aim to arrive at your venue at least an hour before my performance start time.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

When confirming the booking, 20% of the overall fee will be taken as a deposit. This is refundable up to 28 days before your event should you wish to cancel.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

I played in a lunchtime concert at Wells Cathedral.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Debussy, Chopin, Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Max Richter, M83

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I started playing about a year after leaving University and have played at hundreds of weddings and events since then.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

I enjoy playing at all events, but Christmas parties and weddings are probably my favourite.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Setup and sound check: 30 mins if using my own electric piano, negligible if using piano at the venue
Performance: Up to 4 hours (including breaks between sets)

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, but I would need cover (to protect from the elements) and a flat surface to set up on. There needs to be a power supply relatively nearby as well.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Yes of course. I have a large repertoire list and you can select as many songs from that as you like. You can also request up to 3 new songs for me to learn as well (or up to 5 for wedding ceremonies).

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Professional and accomplished.
