About / Biography

The Red Tones have been performing together for a decade. Since 2006, the group have played close to a thousand performances, mainly weddings, but also ceilidhs, parties, festivals and rock events. Initially a ceilidh band, playing traditional Scottish music - the group has shaped itself to completely cover a modern Scottish wedding. We have grown our set list to over 800 pop and rock songs from every era and genre, traditional and modern cross-over ceilidh arrangements, and also have a free DJ option built in. Having met each other as music students, we are all full time musicians who commit completely to playing live music.

Line-ups:

Four piece - male and female vocals, drums, keyboard/bass, guitar.

Three piece - male vocals, drums, keyboard/bass, guitar.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes! We provide full sound and lighting provision for the event.

What information do you require about a venue?

We require clear directions to any venue which is not listed on online maps. Information regarding vehicle access is also required if not available online.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, and this is included as standard in our fee.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

We’ve played at hundreds of stunning venues over the years. It’s very hard to pick favourites, but the most unusual was playing in an aircraft hanger for the RAF, next to the fighter jets!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

The list is very, very long! We love music from lots of artists but a guilty pleasure in the last couple of years has been Taylor Swift!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

Our band has been performing for nearly 15 years. In that time, we’ve played at hundreds of weddings and corporate events. It all started for us when we were at Music College together. We were asked to perform at the end-of -year ball and it developed from there.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

We love playing at all sorts of events, but weddings are special to us. Being part of a couple’s special day is a privilege which we are always honoured to be invited to.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We typically arrive 90 mins to 2 hours before a performance. It takes us 1 hour to set up once we have clear access to the performance space.
Our usual set times are 8pm - 12midnight with one 45 minute break.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, if we have cover from rain or wet conditions. We require a stable power supply with at least three sockets.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

We pride ourselves on playing the best in music from a wide variety of artists and genres. Our clients have always given us brilliant feedback regarding our set list. We’re of course happy to learn a limited number of special requests, for example the first dance for a wedding. We have a large repertoire and try our best to tailor this to a client’s needs. If there are any artists you love, or songs that you think will be a big hit with the guests, let us know!

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

We consistently receive five-star feedback from our clients. Phrases such as “You were incredible, everyone was dancing all night!” are common features of our performances. We are often descirbed as vibrant, energetic, friendly, professional and fun!
