The Musicats was formed by the band leader Yuki. After having worked worldwide as an experienced professional musician with function bands, major artists and cover bands in every kind of venue (theatres, festivals, corporate events, weddings, hotels), he has decided to start his luxury function band by gathering outstanding musicians of the London music scene in order to deliver an engaging, energetic and unforgettable show that it is guaranteed to get the audience dancing all night.
NAJWA
Najwa is a London-based French-Moroccan singer, songwriter and entertainer who shocked the French nation with her unexpected shout at the beginning of her live audition on The Voice France. Many fell in love with her honesty and vulnerability, and her soulful tones. Her musical career started at university studying jazz, gospel and funk. She went on to study with the Singall Gospel Mass Choir and the Opera singer David Robbe where she started to experiment with expressing various emotions in her music. Najwa’s soothing and powerful heart-felt vocals, coupled with her charming personality, is known to energize and seduce any audience.
Previous and current collaborations count internationally known artists such as Lorena Dale, Fred Wesley, Yaron Gershovsky, Yossi Fine, Bumcello, Vincent Delerm, Juan Carmona, Mic Donet and Monsieur Charles, has given Najwa a platform to grow as an artist. Najwa performs regularly in London and around the world with various bands.
YUKI
Originally from Rome (Italy), Yuki is a professional guitarist based in London. He has been performing since the age of 16 in several countries and at international Jazz and Blues festivals such as Eddie Lang Jazz Festival, Festival Della Creativity, Macchia Blue Festival, Earth Hour Festival, Cornetto Free Music Festival, Evoke Festival, World Refugee Day Festival, Clockstock Festival, Time Your Festival. He performed as the opening act for major artists such as John Mayall, Paul Warren, Lauren Hill, Stanley Jordan, Elisa etc. He has also been working as a session musician and has recorded 10 original albums with Italian and British artists. Further, he is currently working as an arranger and music producer on original projects. He graduated in Jazz guitar from Conservatorio Santa Cecilia of Rome and has recently completed his Master’s Degree in Performing at ICMP in London. Yuki is now one of the top guitarists in the London music scene. Just wait until you hear him rip a solo!
ENZO
Born at the foot of Europe’s biggest volcano, Enzo spent his early life in Sicily. He moved to the UK at the age of 19 where he started soon to collaborate with influential musicians and big names in the international blues and rock and roll music scene. Based in London now, Enzo keeps grooving his bass with the fervour of the exploding volcano and the intensity of earthquakes.
JOE
Joe is a fast-emerging British singer, songwriter and Soulful piano player from North London. Started playing his first shows when he was 16 years old and has been gigging ever since. Growing up in a house where music was alive and always played, either through his grandad playing the boogie or his father strumming some lush chords on the guitar or listening to his sister belting out some Aretha, he decide to make music his life and thus started his musical journey. Through listening to his father's vinyl collection he got to hear a unique array of music, especially artists such as BB King, Allen Toussaint, Beatles, Bob Dylan Stuff, and Dr John. Joe got his first Tour playing with Jimmy Thomas who served as a vocalist for Ike and Tina Turner. He has played across many genres, and styles, and has shared the stage with artists such as Michael Kiwanuka, Spiritualised, KatyB, Simon Kirke (free), Jimmy Thomas, Jack Garratt, Todd Sharpville, Matt Scofield, Dana Gillespie, Dom Pipkin, Cinelli Brothers, CC Smugglers....over the last year Joe has been concentrating on his current album which is Heavily influenced by the smoky deep grooves of The New Orleans Sound, He is currently residing at many of London’s premier Venues Such as Blues Kitchen, Ronnie Scotts, The Ned, Night Jar, and many more.
SIMON
Simon is a multi-percussionist, drummer, arranger and composer. His musical knowledge spans many genres, ranging from Pop, Jazz and Classical through to Latin American music, as a result of travelling and studying throughout Guinea, Brazil and Cuba. Simon recently completed a Masters's course in Ethnomusicology at the School of African and Oriental Studies (SOAS) in London.
Simon has performed with a wide range of musicians, from UK Jazz stars Alan Barnes, Jonny Mars and Dave O’Higgins to classical crossover stars Julian Bliss and Russell Watson. Simon has also played in numerous theatre productions, including Jesus Christ Superstar, Legally Blonde, Into the Woods, The King & I, Spring Awakening and The Producers.
A graduate of Trinity College of Music London, he studied percussion with Gary Kettel, Kevin Nutty, and Mick Doran, world percussion with Dawson Miller, jazz drums with Dave Wickens, marimba with Gillian Mcdonagh and vibraphone with Roger Beaujolais.
