About / Biography

Steve Evans is a highly recommended Corporate Entertainer. With over 20 years of playing experience and with an average of 200 gigs per year you can rest assured that he will deliver a performance you'll be talking about for a long time to come. Since 2007 Steve has performed alongside Darren Hayes (Savage Garden) as his guitarist - touring in Australia, America, Canada, Europe and the UK. More recently Steve has been working as Musical Director for West End star Ramin Karimloo (Phantom, Les Mis) touring the UK & USA with his Musical Theatre/Pop/Rock group. In addition to ‘live’ touring Steve has performed on many TV & Radio stations worldwide.

As standard Steve travels with a fully professional Mackie PA system. Ranging from a small 50W Acoustic vocal amp for background music right up to a full size 2000W rig for large rooms and a rowdy atmosphere (however at this point you may want to consider his fantastic band - Youngstar). There is also a tambourine and spare mic on hand incase anyone wants to join in. In addition to his PA Steve brings a small LED lighting rig. A larger rig can be requested at the time of booking. During sets background music will be supplied via an MP3/Laptop. You may also use your own playlist provided it is on an MP3 player or Laptop.

On the day you can highlight 20 or so songs from the main list and Steve will fit them in. If you need a specific song learnt e.g. for the first dance etc. just remember to mention it during the pre-event check or when you book. Finally on the day you can expect a professional attitude from Steve Evans including Punctuality Politeness and Smart Appearance. If you have any doubts that Steve is the man for the job; just take a moment to read the client comments at the end of this profile.

Steve has performed weddings, corporate parties and toured in Australia, America, Canada, Vietnam, Malta, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Canne and most cities in the UK.

TV, Radio and DVD performances: Radio 2 (Wogan, Jo Whiley), Top Of The Pops, CD:UK, MTV, TRL, ITV, Disney, C4 & GMTV, V Graham Norton, Parkinson, CH11 News (NYC), Chicago Morning News, Sunrise(AU) and Rove (AU). Stage size & location, parking, sound limiter

A stage is always preferable as it provides health and safety during his performance
Approx 2m x 2m is enough

Does he need feeding

It is always nice to provide soft drinks and nibbles but Steve certainly doesn't require a full meal

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

I have been in the music industry since 1996. For many years I was a session guitarist playing for Lionel Richie, Peter Andre, Darren Hayes (Savage Garden). The BEST gig was The Royal Albert Hall in 2007 which was a dream come to true for me. I have also played on TOTP as guitarist for the #1 artist (Peter Andre - Mysterious Girl). I have played many iconic venues around the world and as it's been nearly 30 years I've kind of lost count ;)

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

My love of music (guitar) began with Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, BB King, Johnny Cash, Gary Moore but really the list is endless. As a music teacher of over 20years I am constantly exposed to new music and find myself liking the most surprising offerings from my mini rock stars.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I have been a full time musician since 1996. I generally perform between 175 - 230 gigs every year. I can safely say that there isn't a gig or type of performance I haven't done. TV, Radio, Stadium, Huge Venues, Tiny Venues, Front Rooms, Hospital Wards, High Street, Funeral.... literally I've done them all

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

Any event where the audience are appreciative of live music and willing to invest a little of time to engage and join in. I like busy rowdy bars and know exactly what to play but equally I love playing "evening with' shows where I sing all my own original music and talk about the inspiration behind the songs. I absolutely LOVE playing outdoor summer festivals with the full band on a nice big stage with a happy sunny crowd singing along

Does a solo guitarist sound a bit small?

Some do but not Steve. As part of his regular performance he uses Looping Technology, Bass Sampler & a vocal harmoniser so in songs it sounds like a full band all coming from one person

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Set Up - approx 30 minutes

Standard sets are 2 x 45 minutes within a 2 hours period from start to finish times

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes as long as weather precautions are in place (including shelter from the Sun)

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I have a list of over 400 songs and though I'm happiest 'reading' the crowd and playing what I know will work; I am also happy for the clients to suggest their favourites from my list as well. I also learn special songs e.g First Dance etc

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

I have hundreds of positive reviews dating back to 2008 but generally clients say things like "Perfect for what we needed", "really got the crowd going", "Steve read the room expertly", "amazing voice", "fantastic guitar player", "professional, friendly & punctual"....etc

Can he play background music or wedding ceremonies

Yes, I have a small Bose amp which is perfect for Wedding Ceremonies, Restaurants etc

Can the audience dance to Steve ?

My motto has always been "If someone wants to dance there is nothing you can do to stop them" but yes I have plenty of songs that are upbeat and danceable but if this is your main concern you might want to consider my band option

Is he professional

Steve is one of the UK's busiest and most booked Entertainers. Often turning down more enquires in a year than is possible to play. From the moment you book Steve you can expect prompt answers to any questions, a phone call if you prefer and a genuine duty of care to make sure your event is the best it can be

Does Steve learn songs?

It would be impossible to learn a full list of songs for each event when you consider that Steve plays upwards of 200 shows per year. However, special songs like the First Dance, anniversary song, etc can be learnt if enough notice is given (4 weeks)

Is Steve only Solo?

NO, you can have the following options
Solo - Acoustic Guitar + Vocals
Duo - as solo + Violin with female vocals
Trio - As solo + Drums & Bass Guitar
4 piece - as Duo with Drums & Bass Guitar
5 piece - as 4 piece + Keyboards
Nashville Nights Country Show - See Separate Profile listing on LMM

Does Steve play a mix of Old & New songs

Yes, his repertoire is extensive (400+ songs) from the 1950's to present day

Does Steve update his song list?

Yes, the performance list is quite fluid as songs drift in and out of popularity. Once booked Steve will provide an up to date song list

Can Steve play fret dazzling guitar solo's with his rock band?

YES!! Steve has a power rock trio that plays the same songs but in an energetic rock delivery. Here you find some serious solo's and Steve is known for jumping on tables and being a bit flash (Table Invasion)
