Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

Sophie usually needs a small space for herself, the PA and her kick drum - this is about 4m x 6m total, and least one plug for her extension cord (ideally 2). Sophie is also happy to use venue equipment and has a combination of audio mixers and cables that may work, if you can share the details of the sound system.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, Sophie is self-contained with a PA, musical equipment and a small lighting setup.

What information do you require about a venue?

Venue location, parking, load-in location and times, access to the performance area and setup time/instructions.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes I can provide Spotify before, during breaks and after. I do also work with a DJ so please enquire about this as an Add-On service.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

The Louisiana in Bristol - my favourite show to date, I played a solo acoustic set of original music to a fantastic crowd and had the most amazing night!
Other notable gigs include Llangoed Hall (great wedding), O2 Institute Birmingham, The Fleece Bristol, Mr. Wolfs Bristol, Owain Glyndwr Cardiff, Sunflower Lounge Birmingham, The Moon Club Cardiff, Welsh Kennel Club Annual, Land Rover Monthly Festival, How The Light Gets In Festival, Something In The Woods Festival, Mitchells & Butler NYE event, Peaky Blinders themed party in Birmingham (I love a dress-up!).

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Difficult question! I have an eclectic music taste but I definitely have favourites in each genre! Currently in a big MUNA phase, The Japanese House, Boygenius. However all-time favourites include Jungle, Twenty One Pilots, John Mayer, Fleetwood Mac.
GOAT for a song... I'm really into live music so Vulfpeck Live at Madison Square Garden - Back Pocket. Incredible performance all round!

In my performing and writing, I'm really influenced by 70s music and 70s-inspired music. Telecaster guitars, layered vocals, synths, dreamy fun pop. That's my jam! I love Joni Mitchell, Tracy Chapman, Dolly Parton, Eagles, The Waterboys, Crowded House, Hall & Oates. But more modern I'm also really into Jungle (as I said), Phoebe Bridgers, Pinegrove, Mac DeMarco, Remi Wolf, Iron & Wine, Chappell Roan, Slaughter Beach Dog.
My Spotify banks an unholy amount of hours listening to music so I'm afraid I really can't choose one, however I can assure you I adore music and if eclectic is your vibe, I can do that!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I started gigging at school when I was about 13 and always did it as a hobby right through to adulthood. I'm also a drummer and producer, so have always been involved in multiple bands and projects. I grew up near London, moved to the Midlands for several years and then ended up in Wales, so I have a real breadth of experience in different music scenes and meeting lots of people. I think anyone can learn to be a musician, but the real skill is in interacting with people. A gig is only as good as how much people enjoy it!
I've been performing full-time for almost a year now and this has been my silver bullet - I'm an incredibly earnest and authentic person and I love to bring everyone in to the gig. Hundreds of gigs, pubs, weddings, parties, corporate events and conversations later, I can confidently say I bring something extra to every gig and create a fantastic atmosphere.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

I love a venue or festival gig, but I think Birthdays and Weddings are where the most fun is!
Everyone is in a great mood because they're celebrating, up for a fab party and I get to play in a new place - what's not to love?

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Arrival at least 1 hour before, takes 30 mins to setup.
Performance times listed with pricing but happy with
1 hour / 2 x 30
3 x 30 mins
2 x 45 mins or 2 x 1 hours
3 x 45 mins

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, as long as there is protection from the weather (e.g. rain cover or shade), or if there is a back-up indoor space in the event of bad weather.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Yes I am happy to tailor my set by Genre (e.g. indie, country, pop) or Decades, and also take some requests or learn a few specific songs.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

"A true treat for music lovers, offering a cosy, personal atmosphere where the audience feels connected not just to the music but also Sophie herself. Whether she's performing melodic music or a lively tune, Sophie's ability to engage with the crowd insures an all round good time. Her talent shines through her powerful vocals and the genuine passion she pours into every show."

"If you're looking for a night of great music and a vibe that feels like a private concert among friends, Sophie is an artist you don't want to miss. Her song selection is excellent and her performances are top quality"

Do you take requests?

Yes! If you specify you would like this before hand, if people request a song I know at the gig then I am happy to play it! However, I can't guarantee being able to play every request - I might not have heard the song before, and some songs just don't work acoustically.

Do you do karaoke or can other people use your equipment?

You can use my PA for things like speeches or announcements from the performance area.
Karaoke or others playing my guitar or performing is not permitted, as it isn't covered by my equipment insurance.

Can we provide you with a setlist or playlist?

Yes! I am happy to work with you to build the live setlist and/or have a playlist to play over the speakers in my breaks. However, just like requests I do have to take practicality into account so won't be able to learn/play a whole set of new songs.
