Church Musician

Samuel Austin is an experienced church musician who has worked in the smallest of parish churches to the largest cathedral. If you are looking for an organist for a wedding, funeral or church service then Sam will be pleased to assist. No church or instrument is too small!

If you wish Sam to accompany a soloist or a choir, that is no problem!

Sam is more than happy to help with choosing music, making suggestions if required, or he will be pleased to play your own choices.

Additional Musicians

Sam is able to source singers and string players to perform as a soloists or as part of a choir/ensemble.

Communication

Sam is keen to make communication easy and he is happy to communicate by email, phone, text, WhatsApp, Teams etc.

Payment

Sam is able to accept payment by electronic bank transfer or by credit/debit card.

Accompanist

Sam is also an accompanist for concerts and examinations. Please feel free to get in touch to discuss requirements.

Solo Recitalist

Sam usually plays around 4-5 solo recitals per year. If you would like to make a booking, please feel free to get in touch.

About Sam

Samuel Austin began musical studies in Liverpool before taking his undergraduate degree at the Birmingham Conservatoire. Whilst there, he held the positions of Assistant Organist at the Birmingham Oratory, and Organ Scholar of Birmingham Symphony Hall. Postgraduate studies followed at the Royal Northern College of Music, where Sam won the Organ Recital Prize in 2009. Sam was Organ Scholar at both Liverpool Cathedrals successively and holds the distinction of performing an organ recital in each cathedral during the same afternoon! Sam became Assistant Director of Music at Aldenham School in 2011 and became Director of Music at St Paul’s, Mill Hill and later organist at St Alphage Burnt Oak. In 2019, Sam successfully took the examinations for the diploma of Associate of the Royal College of Organists and he was awarded prizes for organ playing, the written examinations and the highest aggregate mark over all. Sam gained the Fellowship of the Royal College of Organists in the following year.

In 2019, Sam relocated to the East Riding of Yorkshire for his appointment as Director of Music at Pocklington School. Recently he has also been appointed Director of Music at the York Oratory.
