Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

A single 13 amp socket plus approx 1.5m x 1.5m floorspace. For smaller outdoor events (eg. drinks reception) I have a battery powered speaker I can use.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, I have my own PA and some simple mood lighting.

What information do you require about a venue?

Details about where to load in plus whether or not there is onsite parking is really useful.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

I play my own (vintage) background music between sets and I'm happy for you to play your own choice after I've finished (for an additional fee).

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

The Ritz in London is probably the most stylish place I've sung. Best ever gig was probably a surprise 90th birthday party, booked at very short notice, where I performed in their back garden to small crowd who danced and sang along on a beautiful, warm summer afternoon.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

The two biggest influences on my style are Matt Monro and Al Bowlly, but there are so many others - Fred Astaire, Ella Fitzgerald, Bing Crosby, Sarah Vaughan, Count Basie, Billie Holiday. Greatest song of all time? Too hard!! But my favourite one to sing is "The Way You Look Tonight" - a perfect marriage of melody and lyrics.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I began singing at school then joined the church choir when I was 8. That's where I first got paid for singing - £1.50 for each wedding I sang at! I studied drama at college and university and dabbled with acting while working in retail, but became a full-time professional singer in 2006. Since then I've sung at hundreds of weddings and events all over the UK.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

Weddings are always happy occasions so of course they're fun to do, but any event where the crowd gets into the spirit of what I do. A performance should always be a two-way thing.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Setup usually takes around 30 minutes, but please allow a full hour prior to the scheduled start-time.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Absolutely. I have a battery-powered amp for smaller outdoor settings like a drinks reception or for bigger events I can bring my full PA as longs there's power. Some kind of shade is welcome too - it can get pretty warm in a three-pice suit and bow tie!

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I encourage clients to select what I sing, but if they want me to choose that's okay too. Sometimes they'll just let me know their favourites and I'll fill in the rest.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Customers love the elegant, sophisticated atmosphere my performances add to whatever the occasion might be. I pride myself on always being loud enough for everyone to hear, but never overwhelming conversation.
