“You'll most often find me tucked up in a cosy corner with a cup of hot chocolate and my harp. I love creating new arrangements for this beautiful instrument, breathing new life into them. If I'm not at my harp, I'll be out in the countryside, walking the peaks, taking too many photographs and saying hello to every dog that I pass.”

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

- 2m x 2m performance space
- Parking
- Power supply preferrable for outdoor events/ drinks receptions / dinner

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

I can bring my personal amplification system so that my music easily carries across the space if required. Amplification is invaluable for offering high-quality music that is audible in outdoor spaces, large venues, or above the chatter of drinks receptions/dinners. I have a pickup fitted in my concert grand pedal harp for this purpose.

What information do you require about a venue?

It's really helpful to know where to park to unload, but I can sort that out with the venue directly if needed!

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

No

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

The most exciting gig might have been the Semifinals of the World Harp Competition in Utrecht!

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I usually arrive 1 hour before the performance to set up. For many events, an hour or 2 x 50 mins sets is most popular!
I'm often booked for weddings. Most often, this is while guests are seated, for the ceremony itself, and then an hour's drinks reception, and/or 2 x 50mins sets for a wedding breakfast.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes! I ask for shade, and a flat level surface to setup on.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I have a large repertoire and offer a highly bespoke service. A key aspect of my approach, especially for wedding ceremonies, is to learn new musical requests and create customized arrangements of your favourite songs or pieces. Please get in touch for more information.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

“One of the most emotional yet perfect moments of my life was walking down the aisle to music played by Ruth.”
“Hearing Ruth play while I was waiting to walk down the aisle after my bridesmaids, my nervousness went and was replaced with excitement”.
