Upon completing my undergraduate degree in Classical Piano Performance under Elena Riu at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in 2017, I thereafter began my MA in Music Education and Performance there under Sergio Simone, graduating in 2019. My time studying at Trinity Laban has further stimulated my passion for music and has greatly developed my skills as both a performer and an accompanist.
I strive to perform as much as possible as this is where my true passion lies and have performed in various festivals and competitions. I was selected to attend the International Piano Course run by The Royal College of Music under the instruction of Gordon Fergus-Thompson and Ian Jones during the summer of 2012 which inspired further my passion for conservatoire teaching before commencing my studies at Trinity Laban. I was awarded First Prize at the Ealing Music Festival 2014 and was invited to open the Beethoven Sonata Festival in October 2015 at the ORNC gaining a commendation. I have played extensively as both a soloist, in chamber groups and as an accompanist for singers in major venues throughout Great Britain including at the Schott Music Shop, the National Maritime Museum, the ORNC Chapel, St. Giles Cripplegate Church Barbican, St. Alfege Church in Greenwich, The Vortex Jazz Club, Blackheath Halls, St. Stephen’s Church Lewisham and Alice’s Loft.
During my time at Trinity Laban I have been chosen to perform as a soloist in various masterclasses with renowned pianists such as Pascal Roge, Sergio Simone and Alexander Ardakov amongst others. In 2017 I had my debut filming with Classic FM and in the same year was granted a place in the final of the Essex Young Musician of the Year competition. I was also delighted to have been selected to be the repetiteur and orchestral pianist for Trinity Laban’s Summer Opera ‘The Rape of Lucretia’ by Britten which premiered in Stratford Circus in July 2018.
As well as solo performances, I also enjoy working extensively as an accompanist and in ensembles. In the beginning of 2018 my duo ‘Sirens’ was formed with soprano Juliette Koch and we had our debut filming with Classic FM soon after followed by being awarded a place in the final of The French Song Competition, The AESS Competition and The English Song Competitions. Most recently in January 2019 upon audition, ‘Sirens’ were selected to perform in March 2019 a selection of Jonathan Dove’s works to the composer himself to celebrate his 60th birthday, in which Classic FM came to film them for a second time.
In addition, I have played for numerous musicals with the LMTO orchestra and have also been part of multiple chamber groups with fellow Trinity Laban musicians, accompanied a number of singers and have collaborated with Laban dancers. I have experience working with and leading the Animate Orchestra at Trinity Laban whereby young musicians and dancers collaborate to create a large-scale piece of music and choreographed dance. In November 2016, I hosted my own Young Musicians Chamber Concert at the Schott Music Shop whereby I collaborated with my musician colleagues to create an evening of classical chamber music. In May 2018 I performed at the BMVA’s (Berlin Music Video Awards) with the band ‘Three Laws’. I regularly perform as both a soloist and with my piano/singer duo Sirens for weddings, corporate events, private parties and functions and have a large repertoire list ready made for such occasions.
As well as my MAMEP degree, I also undertook an IVT Teaching Core course at Trinity Laban leading music workshops in schools in and around London and alongside my studies, I have been teaching the piano to complete beginners to diploma/degree level students for the past seven years and have had great success. After graduating from Trinity Laban, I am now regularly employed as an accompanist for grade board exams and frequently work within schools and music hubs around London delivering music workshops. I teach a range of individual, group and music theory classes both privately, at The Conservatoire in Blackheath and at the Ursuline Academy in Ilford.
Aside from performing and teaching, I have worked for Trinity Laban as an open day steward and tour guide and also was employed by the Romanian Cultural Institute to write reviews and critiques on selected music concerts around London. These reviews include Nicholas McCarthy’s 2016 Piano Tour and Trinity Laban’s Dankworth Prize for Jazz Competition 2016 all of which are published on the CEEL website.
