Booking the Rock Ceilidh Band (and disco if required) means you get a full 4 piece ‘rock-ceilidh’ band comprising electric fiddle, electric guitar, bass and drums. We are all highly experienced and skilled musicians. We play toe-tapping high energy ceilidh tunes blended with snippets and riffs from many modern songs.
Your guests will be in safe hands, even if complete ceilidh novices. As experienced ceilidh dance callers we will guide them step by step through the most popular dances, and a few more unusual dances too using fun-filled banter. This ensures that everyone will be able to fully participate in your party.
The quote is for entertainment for a pre-arranged block of up to four consecutive hours of entertainment before midnight, and includes disco if required. For entertaining in excess of four hours, or after midnight, the fee is an additional £25 per person per half hour.
Please note, we do not sing and bring disco instead so we can cater to all requests and tastes.
Most clients prefer ceilidh until buffet and then disco afterwards, however because we bring disco with us we can be flexible if the ceilidh is going particularly well.
We will arrive 1 hour beforehand to set up and soundcheck, ensuring everything is primed and ready to go at your chosen start time. All our sound and light equipment is PAT tested and we have public liability insurance of £10m.
Our equipment comprises of 2 x QSC K12 speakers (1000w each)
dB Technologies Cromo 8 monitor
Lights - 2 x Chauvet 6 spot quad ISC, 2 x Chauvet Mini Kinta, 2 ADJ flood lights, 1 x Kam laser.

We need a performance space of at least 2 meters x 2 meters. We require 2 x 13 amp power sockets and 3 parking spaces
Yes, we’re completely self contained. We bring our own Pat-tested equipment including PA system to all of our gigs as well as a simple lighting rig.
We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue as well as the suite (if there are multiple) and find the right place to load in our equipment. We’d also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue. We will also need to know if parking is not available at the venue.
Yes, we’re happy to play music from Spotify before, after and between our sets. We’re happy to choose the music ourselves or let the client choose the music.
Any gigs where we have raised money for the STV Childrens Appeal which is very close to our heart. We loved meeting the beautiful and charismatic Lorraine Kelly at the Drovers Inn.
We love other Celtic fusion bands such as Skipinnish, Manran, Capercaillie as well as Rock bands such as ACDC and Metallica
Mary, our fiddle player, played many Irish ceilithe before coming to Scotland in 1992. Since then she has played in many Scottish Ceilidh bands. She started the Rock Ceilidh Band in 2014 and we have played hundreds of gigs throughout Scotland since.
We love playing at all sorts of events but weddings are our favourite! The guests are always taken by surprise at our rock twist amongst the traditional tunes and it’s easy to get them dancing.
We normally arrive 1 hours before the performance to set up. We normally perform 2 x 120 minutes sets. Most people prefer ceilidh until buffet time and then disco afterwards, however we are very flexible and can keep the ceilidh going for up to 4 hours if the guests are very enthusiastic on the night. We’re happy to play a bit longer or shorter but we’ve found that these set times suit us and our audiences best.
We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area
For our ceilidh set we read the guests on the night as to whether we go for more 'rowdy' dances or slow things down a bit. For the disco part of the evening, the clients are welcome to put together a set list and share via Spotify or other means, or let us choose the music for them.
Most clients comment on their guests loving the surprise rock element.
Her are some recent client reviews:
It was such a great night and I'm glad we opened the doors at the end to extend the room to accommodate the dancers.
Lots of people commented on what a great night they had
Excellent, professional and willing to adapt our requirements
Mary kept the party going. Would certainly recommend them.
Mary and the Guys were fantastic...best ever and my clients had the best night ever...by far the best ceilidh band ever...already thinking about the next one.
