About / Biography

I am a singer and dancer with twenty years of professional performing arts experience, now specialising in rock 'n' roll and pop covers from the 1950s to the 1980s. My extensive repertoire includes songs made famous by rock 'n' roll giants such as Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley, Fats Domino, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis, as well as numerous pop and rock superstars of that era, like The Monkees, the Everly Brothers, Dion, and The Kinks. I also have a range of '70s and '80s songs.

I perform at private parties, showcases, community events and in residential and day care settings, and I am particularly experienced at entertaining senior audiences. I also write lyrics and can create a personalised rock 'n' roll song just for you! A charismatic performer, I have a very strong stage presence and infectious energy which at the very least is guaranteed to make you tap your toes!

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

A two-day event at the British Museum attended by a total of 40,000 people - but as a dancer! My singing gigs have not reached quite such epic proportions.....yet!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

I love all the rock 'n' roll legends such as Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bill Haley and Little Richard. 50,000,000 Elvis fans can't be wrong! Two of my favourite songs are Shake, Rattle and Roll and Matchbox, which I usually slip into my performances!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I started singing pop and rock music as a volunteer in care homes and day centres, which was good fun and incredibly rewarding. I subsequently branched out into open mic events, then featured artist events, and my performances developed from there. Before taking up rock 'n' roll I had studied classical singing (Renaissance and Baroque music) for three years, and I already had about 20 years of performing experience as a professional dancer. Although I started out with '50s and '60s music, I now have an extensive '70s and '80s repertoire as well.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

I like all types of events, especially parties.

Do you write your own songs?

I mainly perform covers, but I do write lyrics sometimes.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I usually arrive about 30 minutes in advance and need about 15 minutes to set up. I usually perform 2 x 30-45 minute sets.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes, preferably on a flat hard surface and with access to an electricity supply just in case.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

The client is welcome to pick a set list from my repertoire, or let me choose.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Clients usually describe me as energetic, charismatic and fun. Perhaps the best compliment I have ever received was 'You are better than Roy Orbison - he had the voice but not the moves, and you've got both!'
