With 20 years experience of professional music work, a degree in Music from Bristol University and an Advanced Certificate from the Associated Board (equivalent to today's DipABRSM), I can provide music for any occasion in Bristol, Somerset, Gloucestershire, South Wales or further afield.
I have a repertoire of hundreds of songs from the last hundred years or so, from swinging jazz classics by the likes of Gershwin and Duke Ellington, through the master rock and soul songwriters of the sixties and seventies like the Beatles and Stevie Wonder, right down to modern classics by John Legend and The Weeknd. An accomplished classical pianist, I can play advanced repertoire at short notice.
From this vast array I can craft a set for any situation, whether it be gentle ballads for candlelight, or something more lively for post-wedding ceremony drinks. With my indefatigable stride left-hand technique, I can be a self-contained rhythm section creating the atmosphere of the prohibition era!
As an excellent sight reader and gifted improviser with an ability to transpose (without using the button on the keyboard!) I am also an ideal accompanist for singers or other performers.
I play in several traditional jazz bands, so if an authentic 'hot' sound is required for your occasion, that can be arranged! Likewise, with my extensive network of contacts, I can create a small jazz ensemble of any size tailored to the event.

Mains power supply. I do have my own portable power, but it's slightly noisy so is better for outdoor use.
I provide my own keyboard and amplification (an LD MAUI 5 column speaker). A lighting rig is not generally required for my work.
If there is a piano at the venue, I am able to mike it up sufficient to play to a smallish room containing about 50-100 people.
If there is a piano, and whether it is good enough quality, and where it positioned.
Yes, this is possible on request, provided an internet connection is available (or if not, let me know in advance so I can download the songs).
I've played at Silverstone for the F1 - although it's unlikely Lewis Hamilton heard us over the noise of his engine.
My favourite jazz pianists are Jelly Roll Morton, Bill Evans, Teddy Wilson and Earl Hines.
The greatest song of all time is God Only Knows by Brian Wilson.
I started playing bars and restaurants at university, and have always enjoyed the challenge of finding a repertoire to match the clientele, and learning songs of every decade of the last 100 years.
My favourite is when the client is knowledgeable about music, and has given me some really meaty requests to learn! I enjoy being stretched, and love it when someone wants a medley of Queen album tracks, or lesser-known Fats Waller tunes!
My left hand! It's practically got a mind of its own, able to be an entire rhythm section all by itself, both as 20s stride or a swing walking bass.
Other pianists might need a bassist and/or drummer to do what I can do alone.
Absolutely! 'm always tuned into pop radio, listening for songs that will work well on the piano.
Setup is 10-15 minutes.
A single performance can be up to 2.5 hours, with breaks
Yes, I have a portable power supply if needed, or a long extension.
Obviously there needs to be a backup plan in case of rain.
I'm happy to learn any requests - if you have a list longer than 5 songs, I'll try my best to learn as many as I can, but I can't guarantee I'll get to all of them.
I bring a tablet with a subscription to a sheet music app, so if I can't memorise a song in time, I'm generally able to still play it.
They generally say that I provided exactly what they wanted, whether it was tasteful music for a wedding ceremony, or up-tempo jazz for a drinks reception or birthday party.
