About / Biography

I’m Paul and I’m a budget friendly busker who brings acoustic music to any event!

Whether it’s pub music nights, functions or private gatherings, I play acoustic guitar covers of popular songs.

I travel light, just me and the guitar, for when live-music harmonises with budget.

I can also play a set list created by you! We can choose the songs you’d like me to do and work out a list that you’re happy with!

Or, with some guidelines such as a decade and genre, I can choose some crowd-pleasing classics and forgotten gems.

The perfect vibe without breaking the bank!

Book now and let’s make some music!

Thank you for reading, please let me know if you’d like to know more, and may I wish you every success with your event.

Kind regards

Paul

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

I need a 2mx2m space, a chair or stool, 1 power socket, and one parking space.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

I provide a sound system suitable for pubs and small clubs. A system for larger rooms can be arranged. I also provide some subtle back-lighting.

What information do you require about a venue?

I require
-the venues name and post code,
-any additional or specific directions,
-where to load equipment
-the expected audience numbers
-a general audience description.
-and any particular rules or requirements the venue may have.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

I can provide a Spotify service before and after my set. Naturally I am happy to compile suggested playlists should anything specific be required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

The best gig I ever played was a 50th birthday a few years ago. The birthday boy picked most of the set list which meant loads of 80s bangers and brit-pop classics.
The best venue was a chateau in South of France for the wedding of an English bride and French groom. We played in the huge garden with the Alps as a backdrop.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

My influences over the years are too many to mention, but anyone who can get a tune out of a guitar is OK by me! :)

For the greatest song-performance (slight twist on the question) goes to Prince for his solo on "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" at the George Harrison Memorial Concert. Its on YouTube, search for "prince guitar george harrison tribute", and watch for what happens to his guitar at the end! Where does it go?

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

After many years in groups and an acoustic duo (we played over 120 gigs) I decided to switch to being a solo singer/guitar player. I've been playing regularly over the last few years at Acoustic Nights and performed over 200 songs as I developed my set.
I originally started gigging in bands when I was a teenager (many years ago) and have done so ever since on and off.
Recently I have deputised in a covers band playing pubs and outdoor events.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

I like playing all events, especially 50th or 60ths, as everyone's there for a good time and they're my people, but if I had to choose a favourite I like a cosy, intimate and relaxed room with some quick chat between songs.

Do you do allow guests to sing with you?

Sure, no problem. It can be great if someone is inspired and wants to have a go!! Of course, you can have too much of a good thing :)

How fast can you respond to enquiries?

I take my music very seriously but I also have a day-job which requires my attention during normal working hours, however, I will reply to all correspondence same-day, or within 24 hours.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I like to arrive 45 minutes before guests arrive and get set up and sound checked.
I can perform up to 3 sets of 45 minutes each or 2 sets of 60 minutes

Are you happy to perform outside?

I am more than happy to perform outside and can play "unplugged" with no electricity if that suits the occasion.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Nothing pleases me more than to play a set of songs chosen by you!
It takes me roughly five or six weeks to learn new songs, so as long as I have sufficient time, I can learn some or all of the songs in a set.
Obviously, this does depend on the complexity of the songs and it does help if I’m familiar with them too, and how busy I am with other gigs of course!
There is usually a mixture of new requested songs and some from my repertoire.
Please bear in mind though the set list does need to be agreed a four or five weeks before the night and once its agreed its set in stone, so to speak. :)
I am happy to discuss set lists at length to ensure the best songs are chosen the event and the audience. :)
many thanks
Paul

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

My performance is most described as fun, dancey and freshly nostalgic.
