Minimum space requirements:
Duo: 2.5m x 2m
Smooth Trio: 3m x 2m
Swing Quartet: 4m x 2m
Swing Quintet: 4m x 3m
We required two normal mains 230V sockets (nearby within 10m).
We use our own discreet PA system which suits a variety of venues from rooms to small halls.
We do not bring staging with us.
We'd be grateful if you could let us know where would be best to unload, and what the parking arrangements are.
We very often use a CD player / iPod to play through the PA during our breaks. Some folks like to compile their own cds or iPod for us to play, or just let us know the kind of ‘vibe’ you would like (e.g. easy listening / jazz / R ‘n’ B / pop / disco…)
We've played at many prestigious venues from Blenheim Palace to Syon Park. However, many of the best gigs we play are usually at weddings, parties and events where our audience and us simply enjoy the music and have a great time!
Ooh, lots!.. Gregory Porter, Sinatra, Nina Simone, Chet Baker, Nat King Cole, Al Jarreau, Oscar Peterson, Harry Connick Jr., Earth Wind & Fire, Jamiroquai, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Huw Laurie (yes - that's right, he's also an amazing pianist and singer!)... and many more.
At Cambridge University, I directed and performed in ensembles ranging from pop and rock ‘n’ roll outfits, to jazz trios and big bands.
In 2004, I went 'pro', playing frequently with the Oxford Jazz Quintet, one of Jamie Cullum's previous ensembles.
In 2005, I formed the Jazz Soul Boogie Band, a top notch wedding jazz band on the professional gig circuit in the UK, performing a variety of music styles from jazz swing, pop, Latin to funky soul.
From 2024, The Jazz Soul Boogie Band became Olly's House of Jazz, a versatile 2-5 piece ensemble performing well known jazz swing, latin, soul in Hertfordshire, Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire.
We have fun performing for all sorts of events from weddings to birthdays, theme evenings, to any-excuse-for-a-party! As long as the audience are enjoying our music, then that's our favourite event!
Yes. We also provide an instrumental option for each of these ensembles if you would prefer not to have vocals, e.g. for a gentle background vibe.
It normally takes us between 30-60 minutes to set up.
Our performances are usually 2 x 60 minute sets
Yes absolutely, as long as there is protection from the elements (i.e. under cover) and we're on a flat level surface. We'll also need a standard 230V mains power supply within 10m.
Yes! We're happy to accommodate any songs that you would love to hear from our 250+ repertoire. We'll fit these in during our sets. For a set list, please get in touch.
Our clients describe us as thoroughly professional, friendly, and excellent musicians and performers who communicate the joy of our playing to everyone listening! People also appreciate that we perform well known jazz songs, e.g. from the American Songbook and standards from the shows.
No problem! As long as it's only a minor change, we should be able to accommodate you.
Yes, that's no problem and we can provide this for free. We have several background music playlists on our iPod, or you are welcome to plug in your own phone/iPod etc.
Yes! You are most welcome to choose songs from our repertoire that you would like us to perform. We'll design a set list that fits them in during our sets.
We provide a small PA that will suit most small to medium sized venues.
We're very happy to learn a song that isn't in our repertoire, as long as it is in the same kind of genre (e.g. jazz, latin). This is included in our fee.
