One parking space required. This is unless the venue has a PA system and is accessible via public transport.
Only one power socket required.
I have my own PA system but no lighting equipment at present.
I need to know any directions that will help me find the venue and find the right place to load in my equipment. It's always useful to know where to park and/ or parking availability.
Yes, I'm happy to play music from Spotify/ Youtube before, after and between my sets. I'm happy to choose the music myself or let the client choose the music.
I only require one plug socket and a good amount of space for a one man show.
There needs to be enough room for a speaker, a mic stand, a small table and guitar stand.
There are too many great gigs to choose from but one of my definite highlights in my career was playing at the Isle of Wight festival 2014. The vibe and the audience response was just incredible that day and many fans were gained just from one performance. An incredible feeling!
David Bowie is a huge inspiration to me, not just as a musician but as an artist/ cultural icon in general. Freddie Mercury for his vocal delivery, his songwriting and the way he worked a crowd, he was unbeliveable! As a guitarist my biggest influence is definitely Pete Townsend with his flamboynat, inventive style, especially on acoustic guitar. Singing influences include soul singers like Stevie Wonder, folk singers like Sandy Denny, Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell and I think perhaps my biggest singing influence is John Lennon with his raw, emotional approach. The greatest song of all time? It's very hard to choose but 'Life on Mars?' by David Bowie is certainly up there. Today anyway...
I started gigging when I was 16 years old, my dad used to take me along to an open mic night where I grew up in St Albans, Hertfordshire nearly every Sunday night. From there we started finding other nights to visit. I have been in numerous original bands since 2003, I have been writing music and covering classics for as long as I can remember, released albums, EP's, played at music venues and Festivals both big and small since I was 19. I have been a professional musician since 2010 and have performed at countless parties, weddings, corpirate events, pubs, festivals, care homes... The list is endless! I love life on the road and I love performing. Some my favorite gigs have been quite unusual but lots of fun. For example I played on this party bus going round London for someones birthday. It started at The Ritz and went all around London where everyone sang the whole time, taking in the sites and getting into the music. Just a wonderful experience!
I love so many diffent types of event but birthday parties and weddings are amazing as everyone is just so happy to be there, especially when everyone lets their hair down and dances towards the later half of the evening. I get so into creating a vibe and great atmosphere because if you give it your all during a performance, you usually receive that happy energy back from the crowd. It's like a dance, it works both ways and everyone leaves feeling great!
My sound is highly energised, dynamic and passionate and often grabs audiences attention quickly.
My musical style is a mix of acoustic folk/rock/pop that emcompasses driving, exuberant acoustic guitar playing and commanding, melodic vocals.
My song choises range from Billy Holiday to Metallica!
I cover a wide range of popular music and always try to challenge myself - Queen, David Bowie, Beatles, George Michael, Harry Styles, Led Zep, Elton John, The Who, Amy Winehouse, Jimmy Cliff, Bob Marley, Buddy Holly, Bruce Springsteen... there are too many to mention!
I would have to say classic rock n roll from the 60s and 70s is right up there and it's really the songs that have a bit of a kick to them really get me going. So that could be music by The Who, David Bowie, Queen, Bob Dylan and The Beatles thst are huge 'energisers' because those artists still excite me. This excitment usually transfers over to the audience which is why I play stuff like this at the start of my sets.
I am also a huge lover of 1980s pop songs. For me, it was the best era for the pop single because so much of it was soulful or unashamedly theatrical. Prince and George Michael are two of my favorites and usually get a good reaction because I love singing those songs!
Set up time is 10 minutes
2X 45 minute sets with a break. Set lengths usually are flexible (can sometimes go to 60 minutes per set) particularly if everyone is having a great time!
Absolutely, provided there is some kind of overhead protection for electrical equipment if I am amplifying.
I can learn specific songs before the event provided I am given enough notice to learn those songs. I have worked stuff out on the spot before if it's simple enough. The clients are welcome to pick a set list from my repertoire or let me choose the music for them.
High energy, great at reading the room, very profesional. Looking at my reviews, I've had 'incredible' and 'amazing' used again and again which I am very grateful for! I've had stuff like 'His song selection was fantastic and his vocal ability meant he nailed every song'. It's always amazing to get this kind of feedback and it really keeps me going as a musician.
Clients usually ask for 2 - 3 sets that are about 45 minutes each. I will happily play up to 4x 1 hour sets for events that take up an entire day or I can come along and just play a few songs for any occasion.
