About / Biography

Conservatoire trained pianist (Guildhall School of Music and Drama) from Manchester, based in London. A stylistic specialist in jazz piano, I have performed at high profile venues such as Savoy hotel and Garrick club and entertained at iconic pub venues such as Sebright Arms and Old Blue Last Shoreditch, where I lead a weekly jazz session.
I also perform sets of classic pop songs. With 100+ songs to choose from, and any song available on request, I can create a bespoke performance for your wedding party or function, to bring whatever atmosphere you want. I also play keys for a number of emerging pop artists and have played at major festivals including a main stage at Latitude festival. For seasonal events I have compiled both jazz and pop sets of Christmas favourites that are available upon request.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

Among the best performances i've had was the evenings that I hosted at the savoy hotel. The band and I performed 3 hours of classic jazz to a buzzing crowd. The best solo gigs i've ended up doing have been the round-the-piano Christmas jazz sets that I did last year at the sebright arms. It's a thrilll to get the whole bar singing!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Among the artists i am most influenced are the great jazz pianists such as Bill Evans and Oscar Peterson. I also have a love of singer-songwriter music, and Elliot smith is among my favourite all-time musicians. The greatest song of all time may well be "Angeles" by Elliot Smith

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I Have been gigging since I was a teenager, doing my debut gig at the Cinnamon Club, Bowden, where I was working as a runner at the time. Since then I moved to London to study and began gigging in bars and clubs. Since, I've perfromed at dozens of weddings, and many different venues, such as the Savoy Hotel, Soho House, and countless gig venues such as the Victoria and the Finsbury.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

I love to play at any event really, but parties (especially the lively ones) are my favourite. If i can get people dancing that's a big plus for me.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

I normally arrive 45 minutes - an hour before the allotted time to set up. for every 50 minutes of playing i take a ten munite break, to make up the hour. I then repeat this for as many hours as i'm performing

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes absolutely, provided I have been given a power socket and a canopy to protect from the rain or intense sun, if it's that kind of weather.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Absolutely. I completely encourage requests and would be very happy to accommodate whatever you would like at your function. Once were in touch, please let me know if there's anything you would like included in the performance.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

I have received many great reviews from clients over the years, ranging from "you brought our party a lively energy that made the event", to comments complimenting me for my reliability and professionalism.
