About / Biography

Professional since 2005. Soloist with Princess Cruises and music promoters in the north west of England. I play famous acoustic songs. Everything from Oasis to Ed Sheeran, to 60s hits to finger picking and trad blues to Harry Styles.

"Mike has featured on BBC Radio, played festival stages, fronted bands, supported pop acts, taught hundreds of guitar students as well as playing sets on the deck of cruises, hotels, restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs, corporate and function gigs.

Since working with It's Live in Lancashire and Holland-America Cruise Lines, I've perfected a set of over 100 for all occasions from the Captain's lunch to stylish restaurants, weddings and lively pub nights.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Mike

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

I provide my own small PA and monitor. A Yamaha Stagepass.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

No.

What information do you require about a venue?

Postcode and parking.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

No.

What equipment do you use?

I have a small but loud enough PA and speakers (Yamaha Stagepas) which can fit into the corner of a house or on stage. It is loud enought for medium sized gigs, for example in church halls, clubs, wedding venues. However, when I have performed live at large busy clubs the venues have their own sound systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

Contract with Princess Cruises - Mexico, to Hawaii, to San Francsico three months. Support for Midge Ure of Ultravox. My favourite gigs were in the 90s with our own fans.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

The Beatles. One of the best bands of pop history and best songwriting team. They did everything a musician would dream of doing. From rock n roll in black leather jackets (Hamburg) to virtually inventing indie rock. Their songs stand out even now.

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

Starting playing live on stage in the 1990s. Fronted bands and wrote the songs. Became a professional guitar tutor and live performer from 2005.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

Anywhere with my own favourite musician friends, my own songs and a decent crowd who are there to hear us play.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Arrive at least 30 minutes early, set up the PA and play 2 x45 minute sets or more between 8 and last orders. I an arrive in the afternoon for weddings and hotels.

Are you happy to perform outside?

Yes. I've performed on many stages, outdoors and inside. To be safe I need an extension for plugging in and cover for adverse weather conditions.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

I have a set list of songs and if the client has vfavourite artists within that list, it's very helpful.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

All my reviews have been very positive for singing, guitar playing, choosing songs which people enjoy, being friendly, proffesional and polite. Please check my testimonials.

Do you do requests?

Sometimes. I f I can with famous artists and famous songs. I can often do different songs than the specific request. For example, A James Taylor song, a Van Morrison song, a Coldplay song, Bob Dylan, Pink Floyd, Elvis etc People have shownmuch appreciation for the compromise on their specific request.
