My PA is battery powered but it can also be plugged into a mains.
If one can be provided that would be ideal but not essential.
Chair/chairs would also be preferable but not essential.
No
Where the venue is based/if the venue has its own in-house PA system.
No
I can provide all of the equipment to play at your event. These includes:
- Guitar
- PA System (In the form of a portable amplifier which I plug my guitar and vocals in to)
- Cables (Including Jack and XLR leads)
- Microphone
- Microphone Stand
- Harmonicas
However, if there is an in-house PA system at the venue which you would prefer me to use I am more than happy to use that and use my amplifier as a stage monitor.
I have been fortunate enough to play on hundreds of stages over the last 10 years. One that sticks out was a performance I did at the M&S Bank Auditorium (1,350) capacity, in 2017. That was a very special gig for me! It’s one of the few times where I actually felt nervous! It was the biggest stage and crowd I’ve ever played to! Recently, the best gig I’ve played within the last year that I’ve played was a sell-out show upstairs at Leaf where I played an EP launch gig with my band.
When I first picked up the guitar, I was about 13 years old – the band that made me pick the guitar up was Oasis and I remember teaching myself their songs with a guitar my mum had bought for me off eBay for about £50. After exhausting their catalogue, I discovered The Beatles and then that was pretty much it – I knew I would be a musician; writing, playing and learning music had become my passion.
I first started gigging when I was 16 years old. I formed a band in high school and we began to play the local music scene and then branched out around the North West. Since the end of the lockdown restrictions, performing in bars, restaurants and hotels has been my full-time occupation. I usually perform from Thursday – Sunday and these are often residency gigs where I am each week. My calendar is also dotted with several weddings/corporate events over the next year.
I’d say it's 50/50 really. I love playing intimate shows like weddings or special events where I can show off my skills as a guitar/harmonica player. There's nothing quite like really honing in on your craft and pulling out all the stops for an attentive crowd who is really listening and paying attention. However, some of my favourite gigs have been those in pubs, sat around a fire, taking requests from people who have had a long week and just want to put their feet up and have a drink.
I can play a very wide range of songs from a plethora of genres dating back to as early as the 1930's to songs from modern day artists. Be sure to check out my 'about my act' section for more details!
Absolutely, I am always more than happy to learn specific songs for your event for no extra fee. I am also happy to sit down with the client and discuss what kind of bands/genres they'd like me to add to the set list.
Arrival: 15 minutes before the performance
Setup/pack down: 10-15 minutes
Absolutely, I was a busker for several years – I’m used to all sorts of weather!
In terms of private/special events - they absolutely do get a say, and this is something I encourage, especially for private events.
For events at live music venues, hotels, restaurants etc, I generally just read the room and play songs that I think would go down well. I take requests from audience members and usually get an idea from those requests what kind of music would go down well at that specific venue.
I’m very happy to say that I always get positive reviews from my clients. In the past 5 or so years I’ve been doing this I can’t think of a time where somebody has been unsatisfied or unhappy with my performance. The most common praises I get from clients which are very flattering and complimentary towards me, often praise my guitar ability and my ability to take requests on demand from clients during shows.
Generally speaking, my average set time consists of 2 x 45 minute sets. I am more than happy to increase this up to 3-4 sets for an additional fee.
All I would require from the venue would be a mains outlet for me to plug my amplification system in to and a chair if the client would prefer me to sit for the event/performance.
I can be set up and ready to play within 10-15 minutes.
