After graduating from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama with a BA in Music Performance, I was immediately invited to join the orchestra of Scottish Ballet as principal harpist.
The more personal field of weddings and parties is also a passion, and I love to arrange well known music of many styles for the harp, so much of my repertoire is unique to me!
My harp music can also provide the perfect ambience for a range of corporate or business events as it can be enjoyed without it feeling intrusive.
Sometimes its a focal or talking point for guests as they enjoy a drink before their event begins.
So from Bach to Bollywood, whatever your musical taste, I can tailor a programme to suit almost any occasion, whether its promotional, a product launch, an awards ceremony or your wedding day!

Please appreciate that I don’t play my instrument outside – so although an outdoor ceremony wouldn’t work for me, for your drinks reception I could sit just inside open patio doors and use my amplifier, depending on the layout of the venue.
If you choose to host your event in a marquee, its essential to ensure firm, level flooring and easy access here too – for the car as well as the harp!
• I offer my solo harp music to a maximum of 250 guests, as its not practical to amplify the harp with as many speakers as you would for a band.
• I need a performance space of about 2 x 2 metres, breathing space for your guests and venue staff to circulate and an armless dining chair please. Good lighting is always helpful too please!
• Positioning is also important, so think about the best place for the harp, and if you’d like me to relocate (say between a ceremony and reception), we need to make time!
• Lastly, I usually manage to move the harp and gear myself, but stairs are the harpist’s nightmare.
Moving the harp up or down a staircase or steps is definitely a two-man job!
I will need to park and unload very close to the venue please, even if the car has to be moved later.
I usually use my portable amplifier for a drinks reception, wedding breakfast for example. Anything that isn't a quiet ceremony really!
Need to therefore sit next to a mains power point please
I will provide my PAT certificate of course
Full venue address please, and any quirks that the usual search may not pick up!
I like to be in touch with your co ordiantor in advance to chat things through & provide my PLI and PAT certificates
Short answer is no, but only because it doesn't really relate to what I offer.
In a session of more than 2 or 3 hours I would only take a 5 min comfort break
99% of my gigs & venues I really enjoy for a variety of reasons!
I'm influenced by many musicians, song writers and performers, and so don't really have a particular favourite!
Of course there is a wide range of music suitable for the solo harp and somethat really isn't!
I have many years of performance experience, from full orchestras, small groups etc
Clients from all walks of life enjoy the harp and so I like to bring my music to a variety of occasions
Again, I enjoy all sorts of events. Maybe the small, intimate, meaningful celebrations like a marriage ceremony or indeed a proposal, a Christening or even a funeral.
I have found over the years, the harp can bring much more to a gathering than just familiar songs
Oh YES!!!! This is the best question and the best answer!
Thank you to all my lovely new clients in advance?
I'll arrive around at least 1 hour before an event, to give time to park, unload & set up.
Some example performance times are:
• Civil ceremony - allow 1 hour
includes music for guests assembling in the ceremony room, for the entrance of the bridal party, signing the register and exit of the happy couple.
• Church ceremony - allow 90 minutes
as above, allowing 30 minutes for guests to assemble
• Drinks reception - allow 1 hour (or up to 2 if you prefer)
includes music predominantly for your guests, whilst you have photos taken
• Wedding Breakfast - allow 2 hours
includes music while you and your guests enjoy your meal.
A few minutes are required please to pack up before your speeches, which are usually after your meal
I choose not to play my instrument outside, thank you. All sorts of reasons, my instrument is very valuable & not easy to move swiftly should there be a quick change of plan.
Too many times do you find yourself left alone while others rush indoors....
Most venues have patio doors / barn doors to a drinks area outside and so with the amplifier, all can enjoy my music with the harp safely within the doors
Clients of course can choose their music and songs from my extensive lists & if they have a favourite song which in my opinion suits the harp, I will make my own unique arrangement of it for their special day.
Of course extra work & time for me usually means a charge for the client & we will work that out depending on the complexity of the chose song
Usually they are surprised at the range of music I play, and to be honest guys tend to enjoy the harp more than they think they will!
