A changing area is respectfully requested ( so that I can get out of 'work/set up clothes' and into my stage wear for your event).
MatFin Solo is fully self-contained with a concert standard PA system and a fully syncopated computer-controlled light show for each song.
It is always useful to know the layout of the venue; is it a flat load (i.e. no stairs) to the performance area?; is there a van parking area close to the performance area for unloading and loading the equipment?
Included in the fee is a ‘before, during and after’ playlist of suitable songs played through our system for your enjoyment. We can incorporate your songs into the playlist as well.
I suppose my best gigs to date was (1) winning the 100th show of ITV's New Faces and (2) appearing on BBC Top of the Pops (Oct 1982) with the band Platinum Pop. My venue choice would be the Festival of Light held in Roazhon Park Stadium, Rennes, France where my band (at the time - ‘Pride’) were supporting Claude Francois (French singer and co-composer of “Comme d’habitude”, which was the original version of My Way).
I have an eclectic range of musical influences and I really don't have an all time favourite artist or song - sorry. That said, I love anything that is crafted, played and delivered well. I love music that makes me think or reflect and music that inspires me to do the same.
I have over 50 years in the business. I started playing guitar when I was 11 and did my first solo gig at 14. I have been professional for a long time and worked with many excellent musicians. As a session guitarist and singer, I fronted PRIDE (who won the 100th edition New Faces); I was a member of the band THIS YEAR'S BLONDE (Platinum Pop / BBC Tops of the Pops); I was a member of EDISON LIGHTHOUSE (Love Grows Where My Rosemary Goes) and toured most of Europe in the 80's/90's.
I do like events where the audience is up for a good time as that's when the magic happens. Corporate events and weddings usually fall into this category.
I was once part of the theatre show 'Nashville Nights and Dixie Days' (Neil Sands Production) and my solo songs was the fabulous 'Amazed' by Lone Star. Please check my example play list as there are many new country songs in there - so the answer is a firm yes.
Arrival 2 hours before the start of the first set.
Set up & pack down takes approx. 1 hour.
Outside performances are welcomed but as I carry electrical equipment and lighting there has to be thought given to the health and safety aspects that protect the folk at the event. It's all quite fixable though and an outside event, especially in fine weather, is quite different to in indoor event. Yep happy to discuss!
My set list is based on experience but always client led. I generally have a conversation with my clients well before the event so that I can be sure that I have the right mix of songs for the audience. I include the First Dance at Weddings as part of the fee as a gift to the Bride and Groom. I will either sing live or play the original over the PA, both options with it's own programmed light show to add a bit of sparkle.
Feedback is always positive - ' . . . Matt was perfect for our event'- 'sounds uncannily like Rod Stewart' - 'had us dancing and singing all night' - 'Summer of 69 was excellent' - 'with an excellent lived-in voice and a superior lyricist's winning was with image and metaphor - Tony Cummings'.
