Mark Your Occasion

Bringing charisma, charm and choons to any occasion.

(I’m really, really sorry I said ‘choons’.)

Live Vocalist

So I'll start off with the reason you're here: you're looking for a singer for a wedding/birthday party/corporate do/other event of some sort. Well, I should hope you are, because otherwise you may need to start looking elsewhere. Here's a little more about me:

I'm a singer with experience on both West End and Broadway, having worked internationally on cruise ships and across the Mediterranean. In 2020, I returned to the UK to start my own business, Mark Your Occasion, which combines my background in entertainment with my new calling as a celebrant (but more on that later!)

I now offer live music for all the events I mentioned above, across the entire range of genres (except scream metal and house dance music, ugh!) and from the 40s to the present day. I can offer chilled, background music at a wedding drinks reception, for example, or an upbeat hour (or more!) of end-of-the-night party classics, and everything in between. Whatever the event, and whatever your tastes, I've got you covered – and even if I don't, I'm always happy to learn songs especially for you.

If you want to know more, just holla. I don't bite.

Other Services

Just in case you need more than just a singer for your event, allow me to share what else I do.

I'm a celebrant, which means if you are celebrating a wedding, I can be the one marrying you! (Not in the sense of becoming your husband, obviously! In the sense of being the person to conduct the ceremony!) Celebrant-led wedding ceremonies are truly beautiful and unique, and I'd urge you to consider using one if you don't feel you've quite got the right vibe for your ceremony just yet.

I'm also a master of ceremonies, which incorporates several things such as gameshows (like Mr and Mrs or Family Fortunes), quizzes, and general event hosting – you're talking things like introducing the speakers before the wedding breakfast, hosting awards ceremonies, and even sometimes just telling people when the ideal time would be for them to go to the loo!

My ultimate goal is to help you commemorate the most important moments in your life the way you want to – by ensuring that the ceremony or event is tailored specifically to you, and delivered with charm, wit, and aplomb – and perhaps a dash of music!

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

Power sockets required. All other equipment (PA system) will be supplied.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Full sound system, no lighting provided.

What information do you require about a venue?

Not much – just where the best power outlet is and any parking restrictions.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, but I don't provide lighting and am not a DJ, so I recommend finding someone else for that part of the day if it's important to you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

Performing at the Lyric Theatre on London's West End, and at the Lincoln Center on Broadway in New York were pretty unforgettable experiences!

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

Such a tough question. A lot of my childhood saw me into cheesy 90s pop such as S Club 7, Steps, and Take That, but more recently I've found myself enjoying the Rat Pack masters (Sinatra and Dean Martin in particular), and I love to sing their jazz and swing classics. I'm also a big fan of George Ezra and Ed Sheeran, but will happily sing basically anything, as I feel like variety is the spice of life!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

I started performing at the age of 8 in my village panto. Fast forward ten years and I was treading the boards in various Musical Theatre productions at university. This led to opportunities at the Edinburgh Fringe, tours around the UK and USA, and eventually my first paid job on the show team of a cruise ship. I have since worked in Cyprus and Germany as an entertainer, and came back to the UK in 2020 to start my own events and entertainment business as a celebrant, singer, quiz host, master of ceremonies, and more!

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

I don't have a favourite – I like it when my events are different over the course of the week, because the variety makes my life interesting!

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

Setup 15-20 minutes.
Performance timings are flexible, but generally speaking an 'hour' of live music consists of 45-50 minutes of singing with a 10-15 minute break in between sets.

Are you happy to perform outside?

As long as I have access to power! :)

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Clients always have a say. My setlist is 500+ songs strong, but anything not on there can be learnt if I'm given enough time to do so!

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

Energetic, charismatic, fun-filled, lively, and pitch-perfect!
