The band had critical acclaim for their debut album ‘Small Town Fairy Tales’ and The Purple Shoes recently released their second album in the summer of 2022.
she has fronted many bands since her time in Thailand fronting rock band The Tonic rays, She recorded her first Album with The Tonic Rays back in 2007 which reached number 6 in the American billboard charts for album of the year. She continued to form bands and compose music when she returned to the UK in 2008 and has recorded 5 albums to date.
Marie also performs cover from folk and rock ledgends such as Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Cat Stevens, Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks, Jonny Cash, Tracy Chapmen, Gorden Lightfoot and more. She can perform a cover or original set solo or with her band but also likes to throw in a few upbeat originals to keep her soul happy.

Marie plays solo with just her acoustic guitar and her voice singing songs about love and life and holding onto what you believe in. She also performs as a duo with Double bass player Richard Dadson or as Marie Dance and the Purple Shoes which is her full band line up.
In 2018 Marie Dance and the Purple Shoes were invited to join the line up of the touring Canadian folk festival where they opened for the acclaimed Americana band Gordie Mackeeman and his Rhythm Boys. Along with her band Marie has become an established performer in her own right and has sold out local music venues, built up a large and local following over the years, continually gigging and putting on shows with other local bands. She has performed at many festivals across the UK since 2015.
Marie Dance shares thoughts, dreams and small town fairy tales with her quirky blend of English infused americana with a folk/pop twist.

I have my own Sound equipment for solo and duo gigs, would need a PA to be provided for full band set up
Location, we'd need to know what equipment they have at the venue so that we will know what to bring. how long they would like us to play for and start and end times of our set. if they have any song requests for us to learn, no more than two requests in the folk/ rock genre and two weeks notice so we can learn the songs.
we are happy to play a playlist of music that matches ours to get your audience in the mood for what to expect.
The biggest live music venue in my home town called the Ropetackle Arts Centre, we put a lot of effort into promoting and sold out 200 tickets, the room was full and we felt the love and were able to play a full original set.
Tom Petty is my all time favorite singer songwriter but i also take a lot of influence from, Bob Dylan, Stevie Nicks, Tracy Chapmen, Cat Stevens and all the old time greats in folk/rock songwriting.
I have been performing and gigging for the last 20 years. up and down the country, many small festivals and some larger ones in recent years. I perform regular solo gigs and lots of full band gigs in my home city of Brighton.
Festivals or small gathering of music loving people. intimate shows where people are there to listen to the music and appreciate the art of songwriting and performance.
I/we unusually play two 45 min sets but happy to play longer or shorter if required
yes but will need to be in the shade as i am blond and very fair skinned :) I will be a beetroot in ten mins otherwise and will melt into a little puddle on the floor.
You can request two songs before hand if we have at two weeks notice to learn them but please do take note of our style and genre
Fun, Like its come across that we are really enjoying playing together and really add good vibes into any room. We bring happiness and joy and that goes for solo, duo or the full band
