PA for voice. (I have my own mic and lead if necessary) and depending on the set up - power for keyboard, bass and possibly drums if wanted mic’d. I have a very small PA system that works for small restaurants/bars but wouldn't be right for a large wedding or event space.
The band would need about 8x8meters of space, power sockets and parking for the musicians.
I have a small PA system for quieter/contained events but if a wedding or party is in a larger room, a PA would need to be provided for the band.
I do not have any lighting rig. This would need to be provided.
We'd need to know directions to help us arrive and park, and who to contact in order to load in and pack out our equipment as easily as possible. Any cables/power leads/electricity etc needed and a safe place to store our stuff while performing. (this could be just safe parking spaces)
Yes, I have the ability to plug in my spotify in between sets so there is music in between. If you prefer to provide a playlist, that's fine too.
Playing my headline gig at Ronnie Scott's to release my 3rd album was a highlight of my life. It was such a pleasure to perform for such a keen audience and share my new music with the world on such prestigious holy land for jazz musicians!
I have been greatly influenced by jazz vocalists like Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald, Chet Baker, Tony Bennett and some of the still living vocalists like Sara Gazerek, Samara Joy, Kurt Elling, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Sinne Eeg, Laila Biali, etc.
I was raised in a musical family with 2 jazz musicians as parents so I was heavily influenced by that. Started performing with my own band in university and have been doing it ever since!
I love performing jazz clubs most of all. Inviting people in to share an experience with my quartet is my favourite. Any private parties where people have held a focused small concert where the audience are *right there* is so much fun - it's such a pleasure to connect with listeners in that way.
We normally arrive an hour before the performance to set up. We normally perform 2 x 45/50 minute sets with 20-30 mins in between. We're happy to play longer, or arrive earlier for a sound check to suit guests and the sound engineer but these are the most common timings for setup and performance.
Yes, as long as there is a cover for shade/rain and a safe power supply near the performance area. In break times, band should be able to access facilities for a drink or the loo.
I am happy to learn specific songs before an event within reason - if they suit the genre and band style, but we usually limit this to 3 songs. The clients are welcome to pick a set list from our repertoire or let us choose the music for them.
Previous clients would describe our music as familiar and friendly. It's the type of music you'll recognise a song here or there, but also it fills in the background creating a nice atmosphere for any event. It contributes beautifully to the environment and guests are always interested, smily, willing to dance or sing along where appropriate. Good background jazz, or nice for a simple set to entertain over drinks or a meal.
I don't have 'clients' in that way, as I perform mostly professionally under my own name.
