About / Biography

Brit-pop meets bebop in creative mashups of familiar tunes, all re-cast in the style of the best-selling jazz album ever - Miles Davis’ Kind Of Blue. Setlists can include songs from Blur to Kylie Minogue via Chumbawamba and The Eurythmics. With the occasional Disney tune thrown in for good measure, the talented quintet takes each song on a journey into A Whole New World.

Expect heaps of fun and sophistication, from a band equally at home in a jazz club or private function.

Technical Info

What are your basic technical requirements?

We need a performance space of at least 8 meters x 5 meters. We require 2 x 13 amp power sockets and 3 parking spaces.

Do you provide sound and lighting equipment?

Yes, we’re completely self contained. We bring our own PA system to all of our gigs as well as a simple lighting rig.

What information do you require about a venue?

We need to know any directions that will help us find the venue and find the right place to load in our equipment. We’d also need to be informed if there’s a sound limiter in the venue.

Can you provide a Spotify/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, we’re happy to play music from Spotify before and between our sets. We’re happy to choose the music ourselves or let the client choose the music.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best gig you've ever done and the best venue you've ever played at?

Our favourite gig so far was an intimate one at the Cabaret Bar in Hitchin, Hertfordshire. It was our Christmas set and people had such a great time.

Which artists have you been most influenced by, who is your favourite artist and what is the greatest song of all time?

We love the jazz music of the 50s and 60s - the cool sound of Miles Davis and Stan Getz. And we're big fans of a pop banger!

What's your previous experience and how did you start gigging?

We've played in so many places between us - from the O2 and Albert Hall, to amazing places around the world. Most of us started at uni and went on from there.

What's your favourite type of event to play at?

We just love to play really, but given a choice, getting people up and dancing is always fun!

Do you play standard jazz tunes as well as your unique arrangements?

Yes, we often feature some of the well-known jazz songs in our sets - like Fly Me To The Moon or Summertime. It all depends on the vibe of the event and what the client wants.

Performance Info

What are your typical setup and performance times?

We need up to two hours to set up, though it can be less. We tend to play 2x45' or 2x60' sets.

Are you happy to perform outside?

We’re happy to play outside but we ask for shade, a flat level surface and a power supply close to the performance area.

Do the clients have a say in what you play or is it a set repertoire list only?

Because of the bespoke nature of our arrangements, we tend to use a specific setlist. But suggestions for things to arrange are welcome, and we may be able to help. We're also always happy to offer jazz standards.

How do previous clients most commonly describe your performances?

'Fun' is probably the word that comes up most. 'Different' and 'top quality' too.

Can you adjust your volume depending on if people are dancing, listening, or socialising?

Absolutely, we always judge what's needed and can adjust the tempo and volume of our music accordingly.

Do you have a Christmas set?

Yes! And we love to play it (shame we only get a few weeks to use it each year...) It features our versions of seasonal classics like Merry Xmas Everybody, Last Christmas and Walking In The Air. Check out our video: https://youtu.be/27aZMQeCa5w
