Every booking is different, and so these prices are a guide only: Jules will quote for each potential booking according to the particular musical and practical requirements of the client. Bookings significantly shorter than 2 hours and within the London area may be charged at a lower rate. |
Jules is a versatile oboe, cor anglais, Irish whistles, recorder and piano player. She has a Masters in Music performance and gained her Postgraduate Advanced Diploma with distinction from Trinity College of Music.
Jules played with Santiago Philharmonic Orchestra, Chile on cor anglais and oboe, first as a guest soloist, and then as a permanent member of the orchestra. She now freelances in London and further afield, performing with orchestras, chamber groups and as a soloist in a wide variety of musical styles. She regularly gives classical recitals on cruise ships for Cunard, P&O and Fred Olsen.
She is very experienced in providing music for wedding ceremonies and is happy to assist with repertoire choices. She is also experienced in providing music in healthcare settings and plays weekly for patients in Chelsea & Westminster and West Middlesex Hospitals.

For corporate or other functions, my repertoire is far too large to list here! As long as I am accompanied by piano/digital piano, I can play classical; folk tunes; songs from tv/film/musicals; easy listening; jazz standards and more. For variety I can use cor anglais in addition to oboe.

I can bring my own portable amp for solo bookings requiring backing tracks.
I need the address and a contact number for the venue. I will also need to know in advance if the booking is for an outdoor performance, and what contingency arrangements there will be for bad weather.
Yes, I can play music through my portable speaker if required.
It’s impossible to choose just one gig, as every one offers something different! Ones that were particularly memorable though, were playing with a classical trio in a beautiful church in Goa, India, performing the Messiah in the Royal Albert Hall, and playing Irish whistle for an outdoor event on Wimbledon and Putney commons, with torchlit processions arriving from Wimbledon and Putney.
As a classical instrumentalist, I like music by many different composers. I also love Scottish traditional folk music though - my favourite piece of Scottish music is a slow air called Mrs. Jamieson’s Favourite.
I have a Masters in Music Performance, and an Advanced Postgraduate Diploma with Distinction. I play professionally in orchestras and small chamber groups, but have also been playing for events including weddings, parties and corporate functions for many years.
I love playing for all kinds of events, but private house concerts are one of my favourites. I can discuss the music in advance with the client, and tailor the programme to a small audience so that I know I am playing the music they really want to heaar.
1. Solo oboe/oboe with backing tracks - 20 minutes set up. For a typical wedding booking I play for 30 minutes as guests arrive; short solos for signing of the register, entrance and exit of the couple. I can also play after the ceremony if required.
2. Jules & classical piano - 30 minutes set up time; performance times up to 3 sets of 45 minutes each.
3. Jules & digital piano - 45 minutes set up; up to 3 sets of 45 minutes each.
Yes, I have played outside for many bookings. I would need shade in hot weather and contingency plans in place in case of wet weather. I also need a flat surface, and power sockets close to the performance area if a digital piano is required.
I am always happy to discuss repertoire with the client. I can learn specific pieces of music, though if the music is not readily available there may be an extra music arrangement charge.
Beautiful music, professionally delivered.
Gabriel’s Oboe, by Ennio Morricone is a very popular choice. It’s a beautiful piece, and works really well for an entrance at the beginning of the ceremony. Ave Maria by Bach/Gounod is also well known and often requested, and there are many oboe concertos by Albinoni, Marcello and others which have beautiful slow sections. I have also played a solo version of ‘Arrival’ by Abba which worked really well as an entrance piece at a wedding.
