Hard to say as I been lucky enough to do so many amazing gigs. One of the best gigs has to be the Commonwealth Games Handover Ceremony in Dehli. Being the central point of the performance as the 'Hero Piper' felt very special. 3 weeks of prep for a live 10min performance, in a stadium filled with 60,000 people, televised to an audience of 1.5 billion! Epic.
I have been influenced by all the great pipers of previous generations, but no one has had more impact on my playing style than my tutor Roddy MacLeod MBE.
I started doing some jobs for family and friends a couple years after I first picked up the chanter. That was 25 years ago - everything grew from there.
Weddings are always full of joy, but there's also something special about piping at someone's funeral. Quite often the deceased has chosen specific tunes that meant something to them. Quite special.
